Stroller & seat - my own combo WDYT?

So I am thinking of doing this Jeep Stroller

https://www.target.com/p/jeep-liberty-limited-stroller-spark/-/A-13466210#prodSlot=medium_1_4&term=jeep

and this car seat:

Do you think they'll go ok together? Does it matter?

And here is my FTM rationalization...Baby comes end of September, the likely hood that I will be taking any walks outside are slim to none until the following spring/summer so the only times that I will be putting them together would be shopping. Most places where I shop will have a cart so I can put the car seat right in the cart or up on the handles. Any mall I would go to has a cart rental for a buck or two so I think I'd do that before I'd haul the stroller with because I have a car and will want room for what I am shopping for. I also want a three wheeled stroller like this one because of the tires - prefer the inflatable tires because I live on miles of gravel and the plastic wheels on other strollers would get destroyed quickly. Finally - once the spring/summer does come I may opt to buy an umbrella stroller to store in the car for shopping trips - cause at that point the baby will be big enough for those or again I would use the cart on site.

So, comments? TIA!

ETA: edited title to not mean make my own - as in from scratch lol!

  • It makes sense to me. Just one OCD comment, please don't put baby in the carrier on the front of a shopping cart. It's not at the correct angle and even though the seat will click it's not an appropriate fit. Put the carseat down in the buggy. Otherwise it sounds good to me. :

ETA:: mobile bumping always eats my punctuation and my smileys. Grrrrrr.

  • It's ok if you don't try to put the carseat in the stroller, which it sounds like you were going to do. It's ok to just not have a stroller for an infant, and wear him/her instead or do like you said and put the carseat in the grocery cart. Though note that the carseat is not supposed to go in the cart, even in the main part of it. We used to put it in there anyway because I don't see the real safety concern, but whatever you do, do NOT put the carseat on top of the cart, like over the handles. It sort of snaps in there but it is REALLY dangerous to do that. If you need all of the cargo space when shopping, wear the baby.

You can always try to do no stroller at first and then get a snap & go for your carseat if you change your mind.

  • Propping up the kid in a car seat on the handles is such a bad idea.

Other than that, your logic seems decent.

Thank you for the feed back! I was not aware of it being a bad idea to put car seat up on the handles! I will SO NOT being do that I can promise you that! I do have a wearing wrap on my registry now that it was mentioned so that will be my other option. We live 30+ miles from a small Walmart and 60+ from Super Walmart or Target so either we'll double cart if DH is with or we can wear the baby.

ETA:implying that when I get to one of these stores its usually a cart full - I need all the room in a cart I can get!!

I have that stroller for my toddler and it does have a universal car seat adapter.  I use it for walking around town (we don't have sidewalks on my street or the next street over, and the pavement would kill snap n' go's wheels) and for gravel/dirt paths.  It is really huge and unwieldy in stores and offices though.

Where I live, everyone puts the car seat up on the cart handles.  I asked my friend about it once, long before I had kids, and she told me the car seats were made to do that.  I did it a few times, and holy cow, is that unstable.  So I looked it up and, like everyone else said, it is definitely unsafe.  I never trust things I see/people tell me without a little research anymore!
