Just a little bummed...

I have to go back to work day after tomorrow which means DD starts day care full time this week. I know we have to deal with it but it still just sucks. I told the ladies at day care they are not allowed any of her firsts. No first smiles or words or anything like that. Those belong to me, darn it! I wish we could adopt the practices of other countries that have much much longer maternity leave (and a ton more vacation time!).

It gets better. I think as a rule, DC does not tell you about firsts until you mention it. I'm sure all my kids' first did not happen at home, but DC never tells me that they crawled, walked, fed themselves, whatever until I tell them first.

It is hard at first but it really does get easier! Our DCP is super sensitive to the "firsts" issue. I can tell she tries to get a vibe which parents want to hear about and which don't and then acts accordingly. Eventually, though, you'll be super excited to hear about all the stuff your LO is doing during the day. I love that part of pick up!
