Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Fever question

My DD, 9 months has been running an elevated temp since Sunday morning. Highest has been 101.4. She doesn't show any signs of any type of sickness besides being extremely irritable and not sleeping or napping well.
I realize this isn't a high temp, but since its been pretty consistent for 48 hours now I'm wondering if its something more than teeth. DD1 never ran fever with teething so this is new to me.

Wanted to add....Her eyes are a little swollen and her face is puffy. That could be from being tired tho.

Re: Fever question

  • I agree with PP, call the pedi, just to let them know LO has had a persistant fever.

DD had one of those come-and-go fevers, very little appetite things going on for a little while.  Our doctor said that as long as she was drinking milk/water/electrolyte replacement he wasn't concerned unless other symptoms appeared.

  • DS is going through this now. He has been as high as 102 (under the armpit) and it goes down with ibuprofen and tylonol (alternating every 4 hours per the pedi's nurse), but goes back up at night when I don't want to wake him to give him a dose.

He has had it since Sunday...I hope it goes away today, and that he starts feeling better...it is starting to take it's toll on me...I hate when he doesn't feel well, especially when I can't do anything about it
