Gatorade for non stop migraines.

Hi ladies. I've not introduced myself yet so here we go. I am Anna, 25 weeks today. This is our first baby we are excited about this life changing gift. So I have always had migraines but for the past four weeks I had them every day and made me vey depressed. Nothing worked until my husband brought me lots of Gatorade. I drink it day and night. It worked i had no pain for four days! Hope this helps.

Re: Gatorade for non stop migraines.

  • Sounds like your headaches were more from being dehydrated.  Keep up the fluids.

Because I can not take my migraine meds I drink a Mt. Dew a day to help!

  • Gatorade is amazing ! Since I've started drinking it about a week ago, my leg cramps at night have seemed to not be as bad, if any at all! Gatorade=happy pregnant women :

You can also try Coca cola with Tylenol. But sounds like you needed some electrolytes!!

  • You can also try coconut water and a calcium/mag supplement for something with less sugar and be super careful about your teeth- google gatorade and teeth. I wouldn't drink it all day.

  • Welcome!  I agree w/pps -- sounds like your headaches are triggered by dehydration and/or electrolyte depletion.  Glad gatorade works, but like pps said, i'd look into other options, at least for part of the time.  Another (preferable) electrolyte replacement option is this  https://www.swimoutlet.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=30101&Click=204850
I've been seeing a massage therapist and that has made a major difference in preventing headaches (may be worth a try).
    Hope your headaches stay away!

  • I also suffer from migraines which are worse when I don't drink enough water. My OB and neurologist also suggested an additional magnesium supplement which I take at night with my prenatal. I've been prescribed fiorocet which helps, but I try to only take it when I need it. If I feel one coming on I drink extra water and have a diet coke the sugar in regular coke bothers me since the caffeine helps. I've also been going to acupuncture and I think it may help, but even if it hasn't, it's relaxing : good luck!!

Thank you all for the different suggestion. I will keep a list and try other methods and see which ones works best for me. Have a happy and health pregnancy ladies.
