Crawling Concern

My son is 8 months old. He is not interested in crawling or being on his stomach. He gets in the crawl position overnight and sleeps in it, but he wont go up on his knees during the day. When we put him on his tummy, he stretches for the toy but then gets bored and rolls over. He only seems to want to sit or stand/jump. Should I be worried that he has no interest in crawling? TIA

Re: Crawling Concern

  • Some babies crawl as late as 10 or 11 months, while some never crawl at all, and go straight to walking. No reason to worry.

  • No. DS1 was 10 months before he crawled. His pedi wasn't concerned so I was ok with it. He's perfectly fine now.

  • Pretty much everything kellers said. The most important thing IMO is that lo can bear weight on their legs.

My DD crawled, but she never really pulled up or cruised on things. One day out of the blue she just stood up on her own from a sitting position and eventually started taking steps.

But definitely don't worry, my DS is 8.5 months and just started "real" crawling. Most of the time he still army crawls or just sits up. He's no where near pulling up or cruising even though a lot of babies are starting to do that too.

My son turned 8 months yesterday and has no interest in trying to move, he won't even sit up on his own for very long (throws himself backwards). He can't even push up on his arms. My DD was the same way and didn't start walking until she was 16 months ( I don't remember when she started crawling but it was late as well). My dr didn't have any concerns. I just have lazy kids I guess lol.
