Totally did not know we had a natural birth section on TB!! Super excited cause I get conflicting messages whenever I talk about it on my September board...I am 23 weeks tomorrow and we are having a natural birth. We went with a Doula after switching from a MW (best decision I made cause I am so much more relaxed with my doula) but we are still very much concerned about having a "hospital birth" We will basically from what my Doula says just using the room. No nurses, doctor, or interventions and we can go home when they clear us at a 100%... so basically it sounds to me like we will get the natural birth, we just have to use a hospital room...anyone else have an experience like this? I am a FTM so I want to and do trust my doula, was just hoping I could get some good feedback from you NB ladies

Thanks in advance!
Re: YAY!!
Our state they do (WI) but like I mentioned she told us basically all we are doing is using the room...she brings all of her equipment to the hospital and she does everything...
That's very interesting. This is the 1st I am hearing of that, too. What type of training do doula's in WI get?

That explanation makes more sense than your 1st one. Your original post implied that the doula was either doing the prenatal care, or you weren't getting any (that's how I interpreted it). I have heard of women using family doctors instead of OBs.
The family doctor not being in the room when you deliver is the only thing I am confused about. Also, the lack of interruptions from the nurses/hospital staff. It seems like someone would come in that room at some point since you are using their facility.

Yeah, this. How can someone without medical training be the only one present at a delivery in a hospital? That does not sound right at all. As an L&D RN, we try our darndest to not be the only practitioner in the room at delivery. It happens on the rare occasion, but would never be planned for. This whole thing sounds really odd.
