Re: IVF/ICSI Twins??
We were successful on our first IVF/ICSI cycle. We transferred 2 on day 5. I have stage 4 endometriosis and DH has pretty severe MFI.
We are expecting TWINS in October. Good luck with your upcoming IVF! I hope to see you over here soon.
Me:27, DH:28 - DX: MFI, varicocele repair Nov 2011
Post-Op SA: Count- 15 million, Motility- 75%, Morphology- 3%
IVF with ICSI - Stimming 10/4/12 - 10/13/12, Lupron Trigger
ER 10/18/12, 12 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 5 fertilized
5 day transfer 10/23/12, 3 frosties
Beta #1 11/5/12: 453, Beta #2 11/7/12: 1,013, DD born 7/19/13
Whether you are transferring Day 3 or 5 embryos and the quality of the embryos transferred is going to make a difference in the responses you get here.
That said, this time we transferred one Day 5 blastocyst of good quality, and it split into identical twins, so we are currently expecting two babies from one embryo.
Good luck!
3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!
Keep in mind the quality of the embryos will and should affect your decision, as a PP said. For example, you may not want to put 2 very good quality embryos in if you're worried about twins, but one good and one so-so may be ok, or two so-so ones or even three.
This is a decision you want to talk through carefully with your doctor because ever situation is unique. You also may not want to put in 2 if your lining quality/thickness is not optimal.
In my opinion, if you're not even done with egg retrieval, it's a bit early to be talking about how many embryos to put in. Wait and see how many you get and what quality they are then go from there.
BFP#1 1/31/12, EDD 10/6/12 Harrison Gray born sleeping @ 18w6d. You changed our lives little guy.

January PAL Siggy Challenge: Good Advice
I transferred 2 high quality blasts on day 5 and both stuck. We are expecting fraternal twins in November! See my siggie, but I have no issues (except a minor blood clotting d/o which may or may not affect anything) and our MAIN issue was severe MFI.
GL!!
I have minor endo and DH has low morphology.
#1 IVF/ICSI- We transferred two "perfect" 5 day embryos, pregnant with a singleton = miscarriage
FET #1- We transferred two "perfect" 5 day embryos that were retrieved from IVF#1 and we're pregnant with a singleton.
Me- 32, DH- 32- TTC for 4 Years
IUIs 1-6 BFN
IVF #1= BFP- M/C
FET- Beta#1: 69, #2: 482, #3: 1088, #4: 28,318, Ultrasound- 1 beautiful heartbeat
It's a boy!
Thank you very much everyone. My RE said everything is up to me after they do ICSI and all my tests came back great. My AMH level is however 16- very high so I have to do very low doses of meds. We signed off on 2 embryos due to the fact 1 had a rate of 25%. 2 of 55%. God won't give us what we can't handle but just curious on stats. Thank you ladies & congrats!!

I wouldn't rely on those statistics. There's no way you or your doctor can know that until you know the qualities of your embryos. It sounds like your doctor is speaking in general terms (and those are very strange statistics, which do not align with national SART data, unless I'm missing something in particular about your situation).
Also, another major factor is age, and the ASRM has very strict guidelines as to how many should be transferred. If you are under 35 with favorable quality embryos, the recommendations is one, possibly two if your embryos are not of favorable quality. I'd just echo the previous posters that this is not a decision you should be making 100% at this point until you know how your cycle goes, although it's certainly good to start thinking about your comfort levels for high order multiples and health risks for you and the babies with even a twin pregnancy.

#2 - Transferred 1, had 1
GL!
I have Stage III endometriosis and my history is in my signature, but this pregnancy resulted from my first IVF (well, first full cycle, my initial attempt resulted in a cancelled cycle prior to ER).
Anyway, 5 day transfer of a "perfect" blast and a good one, and we are expecting fraternal twin boys.
IUI #1 March: BFN, IUI #2 April: BFN.
IVF #1: Started stims 7/30--CANCELLED.
IVF #1.2: Stims start 10/8/12, ER: 10/20/12; 11R/8M/4F, 5DT: 10/25/12, transfer of a 4AA and 3AB Blast. BFP on HPT 10/31/12; Beta #1: (16 DPO) 954! Beta #2: (18 DPO) 1968! First U/S: TWINS!! A/S: TWO BOYS! EDD: 7/13/13
PAIF/SAIF Always Welcome.
My DH was diagnosed with Severe MFI and I was good.
We had one round of IVFw/ICSI. We transfered two 8 cell embryos that were Grade AB & B on a 3 day transfer and both embryos took. We are expecting fraternal twins 11/4/13!
