Popping over from August 2013 - I hope you don't mind the intrusion. Now that you all are new moms (congrats!), are there any baby books you have found particularly helpful? I've heard good things about Happiest Baby on the Block - thoughts? Other recommendations? TIA!
Re: Helpful Baby Books?
BLOG THE BABY STANDARD FLICKR VIDEOS
For Happiest Baby I recommend not getting the book but just getting the DVD and watching the video. His techniques are easier to understand visually than they are verbally, IMO.
Baby 411 is a good one too.
I would probably skip Happiest Baby book and go straight for the DVD. There are a lot of books to read, and the author repeats himself about 100 times. The video gives you the main info you need to know, so you can watch it and learn the 5 S's in 25 minutes and move on to other things.
We used the Mayo Clinic book as our week by week guide, and found it to to be good and much better than excerpts of What to Expect that we had read. Also got Baby 411 but haven't had time to read through it yet.

The only other parenting book I've read is "Bringing Up Bebe," I really enjoyed it, particularly the section on "The Pause." It's also just an interesting glimpse into another culture.

Love this book! Very reader friendly and has good information. Highly recommend!
This exactly! I loved that book, and found it so helpful. I also liked Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems by Ferber, and the Mother of all Baby Books. I'm currently reading Brain Rules for Baby, and am really enjoying it and finding it helpful so far.
