Weird phase

This isn't a "should I call the doctor?" post. Just wondering if your LOs are doing the same. Kaylin is healthy, but going through a strange phase right now. She drinking only three, maybe four ounces of milk from a bottle, nursing only breifly from me, and has been napping more often and longer, and going to bed earlier. She does not have a fever. Plus she's been extra snuggly, so not compaining about that! She still talks, laughs and plays like usual, and eating solids as usual.

At first I thought growth spurt because of the extra sleep. But don't they usually eat MORE during a growth spurt? Who knows, could be teething related or growing pains. Are any of your LOs doing something similar?

Meanwhile, Julie has been pounding 6 ounce bottles and has been wild as ever!

Re: Weird phase

  • The sleeping part... not so much. But I have noticed a drastic change in consumption of formula. He was drinking about 5-6 8oz bottles not he drinks maybe 3 per day.  He also is on solids.  I am not terribly concerned about he decrease, bc I know he is eating more solids. My lil man is SUPER snuggly.

Aww, is he always so snuggly? Kaylin's snuggles just recently started with this sleepy, eating less phase. Hopefully she continues to be a snuggler. Gosh it melts my heart when she lays her head on my shoulder and sucks her thumb.

He has been snuggly. But recently, he is like attached to my hip.  I cant walk past him if someone else is holding. If he is on the floor he does his military crawl to get to me.  It is flattering. It melts my heart too when we connect eyes and he grabs my hand.  I am a FTM so this all is SUPER new for me.

  • O's appetite has decreased in the last few days. I did bump her up to two meals a day 1 to 2 oz each but that was over 3 weeks ago. I was thinking it was teething.

  • Alice has been having weird moments like that too.  She'll down a 4 oz bottle if we time it right but only finishes a 6 if she hasn't had anything in a while.  She's been taking 2-2 1/2 hour naps (not that I'm complaining...stuff gets done!) and wants another one after being up for a few hours.  Her solids are fine for the most part.

I know her top teeth are coming in so that's what we're using as the reason for the bottles.  I figured growth spurt too because of the sleep and she wants the solids like a little bird.

  • DD went through this a few weeks ago, and seems to be going through it now again.  She was home sick yesterday (fever on Sunday) and seems fine today but we kept her home since my mother came up.  My mother called at 12, saying she hadn't eaten since 7, didn't finish her whole bottle then, and was refusing to drink.  She also refused her food at 8:30.

    I'm thinking it's teething related.

  • My babe is doing the same!!  Left half her morning and lunch bottle and just now finished her dinner bottle...strange!!  I asked the doc and she said as long as she's peeing and pooping, its ok.  Keep offering at the normal times or in between if she doesn't finish.

  • I was going to say either a growth spurt or teeth - especially with the extra snuggling (which is so nice).  I know DS held off on eating his usual smorgasbord last week, but has since picked up the pace back to his normal insatiability (2 tubs of '2nd stage' 3 to 4 times a day, plus bottles!).

It might be, too, that babies are becoming more aware of people, especially their mamas.  I know when I'm in the room, or talking to DS and suddenly move to another room to do or get something, he squawks and gets so mad that I've left his sight.  Also, when I get home from work and pick him up he is literally giddy.  He throws his body back and then pulls in to hug me or nuzzle me a dozen times.  It's the sweetest thing.

Of course, it could be a combination of all the above posts, too.  *smile*  Thereby not really giving you an answer, but sort of giving you an answer.
