My DS is still rear facing in his car seat. Our vehicles do not have vents in the back seat. I put sun shades up when we're parked, we also cover the car seat to keep it cooler. I have limo tint windows in the back. We also point the middle vents toward the roof in hopes the air will bounce off the ceiling and get to DS better. I still feel like he's too hot in the back, especially when the temps get over 100 every day. Our next vehicle will definitely have rear air vents, but until then... Does anyone have tricks that help keep your kiddos cooler in summer months?

Re: Keeping kids cool in cars
Our car is the same way. I've sat back there before and it gets hot, even with the a/c on. I bought a cheap battery operated fan at Walmart last summer and attached it to the back head rest. I have my qualms about it due to it posing as a safety hazard in a wreck, but it's better than my kid roasting all summer long. I'm going to put it on the back of the passenger head rest this year instead I think so that it still moves air that direction, but will be less likely to land on their faces if I'm in a wreck. I also made carseat covers this year that hold ice packs to keep their seats cool while we are in the store, so maybe their seat will stay cooler even after they are in it.
I agree with this. Probably the easiest way to get some more of that a/c blowing on them is to flip them.

Pretty much this. DD1 was RFing until 2y9m, and if she had been too hot that last summer she would have complained. Loudly, LOL. If I can run the car a few minutes before getting in I will, but generally we just blast the air until it cools down and dress the girls as lightly as possible.

I dont have vents in the back either. I just point all four vents straight back so they are not on me and pointed in the back and leave the ac on high when its too hot.
