Another question: low AMH & ovulation

Last week my RE gave me my AMH results which were extremely low.  I was a little surprised; but maybe my assumptions were wrong.  I had thought my AMH wouldn't be an issue (I was assuming it would be normal for my age, so low but not that low) because I have been pg 2xs in the past ~year, and in my year of using OPKs, I have always gotten a positive result in pretty consistent time.

Would an extremely low AMH level be reflected in irregular ovulation or anovulatory cycles?

Sorry I don't know the answer to that one. I too have an extremely low amh level. But everywhere i have read says, that reading amh levels is still a pretty new way of measuring ovarian reserve. I even spoke with an obgyn not affiliated with my case, and he says the same thing. Women with low amh levels still can get pregnant. Amh levels is the quantity not the quality. All it takes is one good egg.

  • My AMH is really low and I've been ovulating every month very reliably, and with the last 2 monitored Clomid cycles, producing good numbers of follicles. FSH & estradiol are good, tho. Just never a bfp. AMH is just one way of looking at ovarian reserve.

Like McIrish, I have low AMH and ovulate regularly.  I have noticed a seeming correlation between those on this board who have high AMH and good IVF outcomes -- could be purely coincidental, but I noticed it nonetheless.

AMH like pp said is only one way of measuring ovarian reserve... your FSH and Antral Follicle Count ( AFC) are usually used in conjunction with AMH to get a bigger picture....
