VBAC

Intro and question! :)

Hey All!

I normally hang and linger over in PGAL but now that we are at a place where I feel comfortable thinking deeper into the future (15wks4days) I am moving forward to living my birth dream! I have 2 awesome babes already and both were sections, the first an emergancy section ( I firmly believe if I would have just listened to my body and not rushed in it could have been avoided. Labored a VERY LONG time with little progress but hey we were all first timers once) and my second I went into labor before section date and had actually progressed to 8 cms before the Drs whipped me away to preform their deed, "pass go, and collect their $200".  Very routine, they wouldnt even let me try. Fast forward to now and I am determined if body and baby allow I will have my natural vbac water birth with an awesome midwife! One problem, I went over my operating reports ( I highly suggest against unless you enjoy fear) and found that with my second they preformed a single layer closure. I am reading that women who have had that instead of a double layer are not good candidates for vbacs!!! I have an appt on monday with midwife but I am starting to fear my dreams are fading. Ok so now on to the question, have there been any ladies who have delivered vbac after having a single layer closure after a section, let alone 2?! I would love some encouraging feedback and give lots of good vibes for the mommas getting ready to reach their dreams! THANKS!!!!

Re: Intro and question! :)

  • Thank you! I am trying to connect to the local ICAN chapter here but the most local is an hour 15 away :/  Same with my midwife. I am in an area where none of the hospitals carry the insurance for VBACs so many to most of the drs are section happy! I thank you again for your support though! I guess this girl will just have to be patient until my appt monday. Just wanted to hear a success story I guess but maybe it wont be a big deal :)

  • Do you know what suture material was?  I think that sometimes matters more.  And for what it's worth, I just vbac-Ed with chromic, the bad matter.  With a 22 month birth interval, and a second trimester loss in between.

  • I had a single layer closure with just one prior c-section and I just had a successful vbac 2 weeks ago, my dr said it wasn't an issue.
