Late Term and Child Loss

Dealing with milk...

I was hoping I was early enough not to have milk come in but it has and it hurts... The no more milk tea can't be here before Tuesday unless I pay like 60 in shipping...

Does anyone know anything else I can do?

  • Tight bra, cold packs, cabbage leaves, no warm showers

  • First off, I am so sorry for your loss hugs What helped me was wearing a tight fitting sports bra, using cabbage leaves in my bra they help dry up milk and when taking showers to not let the water hit my breasts as that will stimulate more milk production. It took nearly 2 weeks for me to dry up. I hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the quick replies! And here's a dumb question... Are they cold raw leaves or cold cooked ones?

I'll have to invest in some sports bras... When you say tight do you mean a size down?

And I'll be careful in the showers! I'll be glad when I'm cleared for baths again...

Pseudophedrine (Sudafed) will dry up your supply as well.

  • Sage really helped me. I just got a bottle of powdered sage from the herb section at the grocery store.  I took one tsp mixed in with chocolate powder (to help the taste) a few times a day.  Within a few days I was dried up.  I tried the tight bra/ace bandage thing but I think I wrapped them too tightly because it just made everything more painful for me.

i wore 2 sports bras at all times unless I was showering...they were pretty tight.  Also my ob emphasized not touching them at all.  And it's cold raw leaves.  Hth!

  • oh wow im just now getting better its been a week and a half i thought i was gonna die from pain. I took sage pills and did the cabbage thing wore a sports bra. and i found by wetting and freezing panty liners the worked perfectly in my sprts bra i did a bunch and alternated them it really helped. i found that sage stops milk production and cabbage for a unknown reason stops engorgement. hope it passes fast for you it really is salt on the wound to have to deal with milk reminding you of what you are not able to do which is feed your LO. I am very sorry , i lost mine a lil over a week ago i was 30 weeks and had to deliver him. Its been a nightmare.

This! And I am very sorry for your loss.

  • Thank you for the help
  • Thanks everyone! I disappeared from this bored for the better part of the week hoping not thinking about it would help. It did for a day or two. I used some of your suggestions and it did help. Luckily I had a very weak milk supply with my daughter and apparently with him too so it seems to be mostly over. Talk about a mean reminder from your body...
