Carrier for 20 lbs?

I currently have a bjorn and it is starting to seriously hurt my back. I am not ready to stop wearing my son, and I am hoping there is a much more comfortable carrier for an older baby/toddler. He is currently 8 months and weighs 20 lbs. thanks!

  • Ergo.  I believe it holds to 35 lbs.  I know I used it until at least 30lbs or more very comfortably
  • Another vote for Ergo and you can also take a look at Beco for their cloth carriers. DD is nearing 22 lbs at 18m and we still use our Ergo with her.

I have two higher weight carriers.  I used my Boba until I got pregnant with number three, with my four year old.  She was comfortable and loved the back carry.  She is now five and a half and not quite 40 pounds yet.  I have recently started to use it with Eryn.  It is nice with a nearly 17 pound eight and a half month old.  I also have the Ergo sport and love it as well.  I would recommend either of these carriers.
  • I can still easily wear my 30 lb 2 year old in my Ergo.

Action Baby Toddler carrier- it's good from 15-45lbs & very comfy. I'm actually selling one if your interested.

  • We have the Pikkolo and really like it.  The Ergo is also great.

  • I highly recomend the Tula. Great quality, good fit for lots of people and comes in some great patterns :)

  • An Ergo, Boba 3G, or a mei tai style carrier would probably work well for you.  I haven't tried in a while since he's technically over the weight for it but when my son was 35 lbs (the limit for my carrier) I could still comfortably wear him in my mei tai carrier.
