DD is 2 months old and I have a K'tan. I put her in the kangaroo hold but I feel like it's difficult for me to get her situated so her chin isn't down on her chest. She is upright but she likes to straighten her legs out which messes up her position. Even when she is sleeping, it seems like her head just goes onto her chest. I can lift her head to where I can fit two fingers under her chin so the fabric isn't containing her into that position. But I feel like I have to walk around like this holding her head up or else it slumps back down. She doesn't have complete head control yet so maybe she just can't hold it up off her chest? I also feel like I don't have a long enough torso (I'm 5'1" and have the XS size) as her back is curved a little bit. I'm not sure if all this makes sense but I just want to make sure I have her in there right so that she can breath since she does like to sleep in the wrap and I can get a lot more stuff done with her in it.

I'm close to your height 5'3" and loved the K'tan in explorer position. Which is kind what your describing to me, and I know exactly what you mean about the kido straitening their legs messing everything up. What worked best for me was to keep their head a high up on my chest as possible and to make the reclining angle larger so the head didn't want to naturally fall forward.
