Hi everyone! I just found this website and am so excited to converse with other parents of toddlers =)I have a question for you all. My son will be 15 mos on the 17th. He still takes his bottle before bed time with milk in it. He drinks a sippy throughout the day (ok, and occasionally wants his bottle for nap time, but not too often) but at night he refuses to lay down without having a bottle first. I feed it to him, then lay him down when he is done and he goes right to sleep. He does not sleep with it. A lot of my family thinks it's appalling that he still takes his bottle =/ And I know the official recommendation and research says children should be off the bottle by 12 mos, but he's not having it! Plus, he JUST started sleeping throughout the night about a month or two ago, so I'd hate to do something to reverse that.My questions are: Did anyone else's LOs still take a night-time bottle at this age? What age did your LOs completely wean? and how did you accomplish it?Thanks so much for reading!
Re: Night-time bottle?
We ditched the bottle at 11.5 months, so I don't have too much advice for you.
But how many oz are in his bottle? There is a difference between a binky at bedtime and a bottle full of milk at bedtime. A bottle at that age is teaching kiddos to eat/drink for comfort. I can't reference any right now, but there have been studies that show prolonged bottle used in toddlers has a connection to obesity later.
Maybe slowly start dropping how much is in the bottle, then switch to water?
