and since I complained...

I try not to rant about my family online, and I didn't intend for my other post to be a rant. I'm just really curious how others deal with that kind of thing (grandparent rules/expectations).

So since I said some negative things about my dad, I just have to say that he was a total lifesaver this week. I don't think I shared this yet unless it was in a randoms thread.

I had a doctor appointment the day he was in town, and he decided to come with me rather than stay home with DS. My appointments are at a really big hospital, so I park in a huge parking garage that usually has enough space. There was some event going on, and all the spaces were full. Even though we arrived way early for my appointment, I was going to be late because of the parking. So my dad sent me on my way and then spent almost half an hour driving around the parking lot trying to park. And when he finally parked, he entertained DS while they waited for me. I otherwise would have been 30 minutes late for my appointment, and then would have felt rushed. Since he did that, I was able to be relaxed at my appointment and go through a lot of questions and concerns with the OB.

So even though he drives me crazy, he can be incredibly thoughtful and helpful.

Anyone else want to AW someome that they tend to complain about?

  • I just want to say that even though my mom and I butt heads quite a bit, I am forever grateful that she is willing to make the 2-hour drive to come and help me with the kids when I need her.

  • I complained last week, I think, about my DH starting to smoke again. I still feel incredibly guilty about that. He surprised me this week by letting me know that he understands how bothered I am by it. He is going cold turkey since stop smoking aids haven't done him any favors in the past.

He is an incredible husband and father and I am thankful on a daily basis for how sweet and caring he is. I might occasionally complain, but I am very blessed!

  • Very nice of your dad!

I've been complaining about DH a lot. He's really a great dad and we make a good balance. He's super loving and a hugger, I'm not. He's funny and high energy, he's clean and always getting stuff done. I'm a messy lady, he helps me keep my messiness under control.

  • I have to AW DH and how awesome he did in his classes this semester!  I normally complain about the weird schedule and hours, and feeling frustrated because he has to spend so much time studying.  But his teacher emailed him that can can opt out of the final for his class because his grade is 100% for the semester!!  I'm seriously amazed, this is one of the tougher engineering courses that he'll have to take (according to him), and the class average has been in the 60's and 70's for the duration of the semester, while DH has been getting nearly perfect scores on every exam.  I'm impressed, DH is really one smart cookie!
