I get way too excited for that silly list to come out. Liam is the only one I'm surprised by; I didn't realize it would be quite in the top 10 yet. Funny that it and William are right next to each other.
And my boys' names each dropped a spot or two from last year. Yay.
I know LOTS of Liams and Oliver's are popping up everywhere too.
I see Oliver a lot on this board but my Oliver is the only one I know under the age if 25. I'm glad to see it didn't jump too far up the list. As much as I see it on here I thought for sure it would have been higher on the list.
One of our top boy's names remains out of the top 1000.
YAY.
One of my girl names has not been in the top 1000 since 2009. Another is in the 600s. I have a boy name I like not in the top 1000, but not sure H will go for it. There's one we like in the top 150. There are a few I like in the top 100, actually.
Ugh, if I had named a baby 10 years ago I would have used Amelia, Audrey, or Ian or Elijah, all of which seem SOOOO popular. And I can't believe my grandmother's name, Lillian, is in the top 25. She hated her name.

Historically, though, it's almost at an all-time high, I think. My husband is an Oliver and the year he was born it was something like 442.
I know/know of a couple, but up in the 70s isn't a huge deal. Especially when only 1% of all boys have the number 1 name as their name.
For those of you who are trying to avoid popularity or big jumps- how much is too big a jump for you? Like if a name jumps 20 spots is that too much? 50? 100?
Just curious. I'm not sure how I feel about one of our names jumping over 100 spots.

Jacob has been #1 for boys for the last 12 years? Interesting.
Is there a way to see boys and girls together--who was named the most? (Like are there more Jacobs than Sophias?)
Someone may have answered this already. Yeah, when you pull up the list of top 1000 names, you can choose whether you want it to include either the percentage of births or number of births, so you can compare the names side by side.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
I'm more than a little surprised at how "normal" the names are. I know a BUNCH of baby boys named Noah. Abby and Emma are my stepsisters, Ava is my cousin, Mia was on my list, and Olivia and Sophia are my friends so yeah, super popular names haha.
Hmm, actually, I'm surprised at how many of the top 10s I like. I would never use such a popular name, but at least most of them are nice.
Glad to see my DS' name still hasn't cracked the top 1,000.
I was a little disappointed my first-choice names if we have a second baby both rose on the list. I think my girl name is getting too popular (top 200).

Jaxson has gone up 34 spots, to #106.
