The nurses dip stick/urine test showed traces of blood in my urine at my appointment last Thursday, you couldn't see any at all in it but the strip showed it so they sent it to the lab and said they would call on Monday or Tuesday at the latest if I had a UTI.
I haven't heard anything so I assumed things are good, we had sex the night before so it was probably a little something from my cervix that came out while I peed.
Well I just used the bathroom and my urine was very clearly tinged with blood, it was a very dark pinky/orange and the toilet paper was tinged pink when I wiped. Strangely, it's been a normal shade of pale yellow all day and most of the week.
So I called and am waiting to hear back from them but OMG I am going to be absolutely LIVID if my urine tested for a UTI and they never called me!!!!!
Re: Last straw with my OB...
Oh geez! I hope everything turns out ok!
Maybe I should put this in the UO thread- but I wish all these drs would give us results no matter what. Our medical group at least posts them to our private access web portal so you can always look up results. I'd go crazy paranoid if I didn't have that. *hugs*
Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!
I would be too! Hopefully it's nothing!
I got check for leaking and it came back that I had a yeast infection, so glad I asked to me check because I had no symptoms.

IT'S A BOY
That sounds awesome! I agree completely, it's complete bull. I want to and believe I have a right to know what my results are either way and in a timely fashion to.
Irish, I'm at my wits end with them. I can't switch at this point, I tried a few weeks ago. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was for the one MW. It's got to be that they didn't call me, why else would there be blood in my urine today? It's just strange and random, I've been fine otherwise.
Yeah, me too! UTIs can lead to far worse problems if left untreated.
The last time we had sex was last Wednesday night and I didn't notice any blood at all but the next afternoon was when it tested in my urine, so it very well could have just been from the sex the night before. The time before that I had a dime sized bit of blood/mucus and that showed up right after sex. Those are the only times I've had issues though and we also haven't done anything since last Wednesday.
Drea, I hope it's nothing too! I'm glad it was for you, they didn't give you any idea of why it was there?
I actually don't abide by that logic at all and they get a call from me if I don't hear from them. When I was pregnant with my first son I went for my NT scan and associated blood work and was told "No news is good news and we can review the results with you if you want at your next appointment." No news came. A couple weeks later the nurse coordinator called me and lo and behold, the lab had actually LOST my blood work so "no news" literally meant they had no news to give. By that point I had missed the window for the NT scan and had to go for the quad screen at 16 weeks. End of the world? No, but it showed me that not hearing from them doesn't necessarily mean all is well. /off soapbox :-p
During pregnancy they say you can't usually feel UTI symptoms but I KNEW I had one a couple of weeks ago. I get chronic bladder infections when not pregnant and I just knew something was wrong. I called my OB and they squeezed me in. Well I had a new nurse who dipped my urine and came in and was like "your urine looks good any questions for the doctor?" So I responded "Oh good I'm here because I that I had a UTI but I guess not." Her response "Oh thats why you are here? oh well that takes longer to show up on the test, I should go and re-dip" sure enough I had a UTI!! I was livid!! If you don't normally show signs during pregnancy why is this nurse not always waiting the full 3 minutes for test results?!
I would be super PO'd in your situation!
So I never got a call back, after an hour and a half! I called at the hour mark and they weren't picking up the phone, so I called again at the 90min mark and finally got through but for some reason it was their downtown office that answered (they have 3, "mine" in "my hospital", one in the city and one about 20mins away).
They had no clue who I was, why I was calling, or even that I was pregnant! I gave my name, said they were supposed to call me, that I was checking my results and concerned about blood in my urine (I peed again and it was still deeply tinged with blood). The stupid nurse didn't even bother to bring me up on the computer and she asked me like I was a complete dumb a$$, when my last period was?! Are you flucking kidding me?!?! I was really irritated and told her I was almost 36wks pregnant, and she said "Oh, well your urine culture didn't grow anything (what the h3ll kind of nurse states it like that?!), so you're fine"... um okay?! That's great but the blood in my urine happened today, twice. So she repeated, "Your test came back fine, you don't have a UTI" I was p!ssed at this point so I asked to speak with an actual doctor. She transferred me and after 15mins on hold the call was disconnected!!!
I immediately called back and this time it went straight to "my" office, I told them I had been on hold and the call disconnected. They knew who I was, which was a nice change lol and I spoke with the nurse who was conveying to the doctor (I could hear her in the background), they told me my urine screen was clean and asked about other symptoms and I said I didn't have any so the doctor told me to just wait it out. If I showed any other symptoms, or the blood got worse or even if it just didn't get better, to call in the am and they would get me in and that blood in urine is common at this stage. (never had it with M)
It's a damn good thing I had to call them today though because come to find out the bishing receptionist (thank god she wasn't there today) had put the wrong "Hall" (my maiden name) into my slot on Monday am, so I technically didn't even have an appointment scheduled!!
After my 6wk PP app I'm finding a new doctor.
But on the good side, my appointment on Monday am is now set in stone and the doctor doesn't think anything is really wrong.
