My sister has a time share and has offered to use it to take me, DH, DD, DS, her, her husband and our parents to Disneyworld. DD turned three in February and DS is only eight months old. We want to wait until they both will enjoy it, but we also don't want to wait too long to go because my parents are in their late 60's and my dad is already having some health issues. I don't know how much walking he will be able to do, especially a few years down the road. And we figure we can always go back a second time in 5 or 6 years if we want. Would 2 and 4.5 be OK for the first trip? Or should we wait a little longer?
Re: Disneyworld: what age(s)?
We think we'll take her for the first time sometime between age 4 and 6 and then again between 8 and 10.
To answer your question, though, I think it's fine to take them at their current ages. Just be smart about your itinerary and which rides/attractions you take them to see. Even if they don't remember the trip, they'll still have fun in the moment, and YOU will remember that.
We just took DD a month before she turned 3 (so she was still free) and it was the perfect age. She had so much fun and loves to watch the videos we took and look at all the pictures and she will bring it up often, things we did down there, characters we met. It was an amazing time and I can't wait to go back.
I think that 2 and 4.5 are great ages to go!

We went with a 6 month old and 2 yo - not really the recommended ages, but we got a great deal with the military discount and my MIL was able to go with all 4 of her grandchildren, which was great for her.
My 2 yo loooved it. There was a ton of stuff for her to do, her favorites were probably dumbo, Crush, meeting Donald, and the hotel pool. One thing to consider is that it is a lot of standing/walking and you can't take strollers into the lines, so even though my 2 yo never uses a carrier normally, I was glad I had it for the baby because I wound up using it with my 2yo. She wanted to be held a lot, which gets old fast. Disney is also great for those that are handicapped so if your dad has trouble walking I wouldn't hesitate renting a wheel chair.
We took my DD for her 5th birthday and my DS was 22 months. It was great! She LOVED it and it's such a sweet age. She completely believed each princess was real. Also, shockingly, she believe every character was real. She talks about it all the time and definitely wants to go back.
My son was fine. He was much easier than I expected and actually I think it was great having him becuase it slowed us down in a positive way. We knew we had to go back to the hotel every day for nap, so we simply didn't try to do too much. He loved the pool at the hotel, and LOVED every bus and train and boat we got to ride on. Plus at 2 they're free to get into the park which saves a ton.
I think you will have a great time!
I definitely want to take DS (almost 2) someday. I want to wait until he can walk long distances on his own and until he is fully potty trained. No diapers at Disney for me!
My sister took her family and my parents a year ago. My dad is a cancer survivor but isn't in great health. He rented a scooter at Disney World and it helped immensely. The kids (8, 6, and 4) took turns riding on it with him. It enabled my dad to enjoy the park. There is no way he could have done that much walking.
Well our first trip to Disneyland was last year and our kids were 4.5 and 2.5 and they had a blast! So much so, that we are going back this October for Halloween and they will be 5 and almost 3 and we are even staying a day longer.
Since Disneyworld is a much farther trip for us we will wait until the kids are older.
This!
DH has only been to WDW once, with me, and he witnessed so many tired and cranky kids being obnoxious or having to be carried through the park. He vowed that he would not take the kids as young toddlers.

We just took our daughter to Disneyworld last weekend to celebrate her 2nd birthday. It was really fun. I told my husband that I personally wouldn't take a non-walking child there, but there were plenty of people with small babies. Don't worry too much about older people walking. I'm 8 months pregnant, so I got an "electric convenience vehicle" one day and a regular wheelchair the second day to avoid walking too much.
We took my niece at 18 months. She had a blast, even though she was clueless lol. We have a Disney Timeshare, too. Our first trip will be right as DS turns 3 and DD will be 17 months.
They definitely won't remember it that young, but if you want to go while your parents are in good health, it is a fun place for kids of all ages!
Also, we took DS on a Disney Cruise when he was 9 months old. He had so much fun and was the happiest little guy! Again, not something he will remember, but I am soooo glad we went when we did!
