This stems from a convo with DH. When we found out we were expecting, i headed to pintrest to check out all the cute "announcement" ideas. I shared them with DH and discussed which pictures i would love to take. he asked, "for what?" I said, to announce we are pregnant. His opinion was people don't mail out announements anymore, if anything they post something on FB. And he thought (and i agree) going to a professional photographer to take an announcement photo was a bit much.

So just curious, did any of you actually mail out announcements stating you were pregnant? Did you just stick with the a FB announcement? Did you take the pic yourself or have a professional do it?

We took a cute picture of our feet in slippers with baby slippers in front of them. The top said, 'Baby D... Coming August 2013." We emailed it to closer family members before we posted it on Facebook. If we had grandparents or other relatives who didn't have e-mail, I would have sent it out to them.

My sister is a photographer so we had her take ours. It was mainly for facebook, we told the important people in our lives face to face.

We just did ours. We're telling people this weekend which is earlier than most but my mil can't hold it in much longer! Lol. We took a pic of our shoes with a baby pair in between and said baby n due 11/28/2013. We're mailing to a few people but mostly just putting on Facebook. We just had our neighbor take the pic on my iPhone and it looks great!

Because of our loss history, we don't plan to make a big to-do over pregnancy announcements, we're just telling close friends and family when we get the opportunity. We WILL make a big to-do over birth announcements though!

We didn't formerly announce our first pregnancy on FB or any other way, just told people as we saw them/spoke with them.

This time, I felt more comfortable and announced on FB with a pic of DD in a "Best Big Sis" t-shirt, followed up by a pic of my birthday cake (day we announced), which said "It's a Boy."

We just took a picture ourselves for FB. We'll hire a professional (actually my husband's cousin) to do our newborn photos and we will send out birth announcements once Hunter is here.

We just announced on Facebook, and had my sister take the picture with my iPhone. I didn't really plan on using it for anything else but Facebook, but I like how it turned out so I think I'll frame it and put it in LO's room.

We'll do a formal printed birth announcement that we'll mail out once the baby is born, but I would be way too nervous putting anything in print before then.

Good luck with whatever you decide! We all fought hard enough to get here, so do whatever you want to do and enjoy it!

I'm a professional photographer and had my partner take some shots of us for our FB announcement. I didn't mail announcements. I told all the important family and friends in person or on the phone and everyone else found out via FB announcement.

It's a special time. You could do a "mini" session with a professional (like an hour) or have a friend take some for you. I figured we only get to announce that we are pregnant with our first baby once so we might as well do something special and memorable.

DH and I are going to Maui next week to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We are also renewing our vows. So we hired a photographer for an hour session to take photos during our vow renewal and then some of us on the beach. DH and I never take photos together, so we are excited to have some professional ones of us as a couple. During our session we are planning to take an "announcement" photo to post on FB and email to relatives.

We are moving and having twins, so we're sending a personalized postcard telling people both.

I won't be doing any facebook announcement, because I personally find them impersonal and after dealing with IF I just don't want the hassle of others who are struggling to feel more alone.

Pinterest is great for some ideas, but frankly I think a lot of it is AW over the top. Professional photographers, gender reveals, and making massive productions as if people are the first to ever have babies is a bit much to me.

Do what you're comfortable with.

I know many of us have struggled quite a bit to get to this point and want to shout it to the world and celebrate while others are more somber and feel this is a personal thing.

I've always been the type to send mail and appreciate the extra effort it took for someone to send me something, so I think it will be more fun to send something to those special to us.

We didn't announce it (yes, it is still a secret to most. Especially the one's I don't see). My feelings are if it makes you happy to announce by FB or by mail, then go ahead! You deserve happiness.

I think you should do whatever you'd like. When we've waited this long, if you want to do an announcement with a professional photographer, do it.

We didn't mail anything out. I called the closer family/friends that didn't know yet, then we did a FB announcement around 13 weeks, and I used our 12 week NT scan picture for the announcement.

We did nothing and plan to not do much once he gets here besides a birth announcement to close family and friends. I told people on a need to know basis and only in person. Nothing on FB, though I think I might once he gets here. Even so I don't plan on plastering his face and every cute outfit on there. For some reason that really irks me when others do it, but to each their own.
