Based on advice from Kellymom website, I've been drinking 1/3 of a bottle of Guinness stout every night for a week (1/3 just because I don't want a lot of alcohol). I've noticed that my milk supply has increased by maybe 20%? I'm also taking fenugreek, which I think helps, but I've noticed a difference since adding the beer. Just thought I'd share.
Re: Guinness stout and milk supply
Like was stated above it has to be a dark beer (lots of hops) to be effective so the apple beer was tasty, but not worth it. The O-Douls was specifically recommended for bringing up breastmilk production on a couple sites I visited. I made it 'drinkable' by adding honey to it...but am still no fan. If I come across a tasty dark beer I'll let you know.
I like the Gatorade idea.
