2nd Trimester

Gender Reveal Idea

Edited to try to explain everything better...

Okay, I know I won't be able to keep it a secret until a party.. so me and my husband were planning on a photo progression collage to post on Facebook...

photo 1 and 2 will be captioned something like "Hmmm which one will need?" and show me and my husband each holding up a onesie one blue and one pink with confused looks.

photo 3 will have the caption "BOTH!" and me and my husband looking as shocked as possible

photo 4 will show us relieved and reveal that if it is a boy the pink shirt will say something like "boys can wear pink too" and if it is a girl the blue shirt will say something like "100% daddy's GIRL"

meaning a boy can wear both and a girl can also wear both...

What do you think? too corny? any advise?

Re: Gender Reveal Idea

  • Seems a little obscure to me.

I've re-read what you wrote several times and am still confused. Are you having twins or something?

I had twins with my first pregnancy, and I like messing with people. the point is the pink shirt will have a saying for a boy and the blue shirt a saying for a girl there for either gender can wear both shirts....
  • I am so confused.

    Still pretty obscure.

So, are you not finding out the gender, hence the ambiguity...?

Keep in mind, I don't know you or your sense of humor.

  • I got it... You wanted to play a joke like it was twins again.

I think it's cute... For the last picture I would try to involve the kids if you can. Think it would be cute.

the point is that if it is a boy it will be able to wear the pink shirt because it will say "boys can wear pink too" and if it is a girl she can also wear a blue shirt because it will say "daddy's little princess" I am not 100% sure what I want them to say but something like that... sorry for all the confusion. I am a bad writer.

This thread is reading like the comments will for your FB post.  I would not do this.  I think I get what you are saying, but do you really want everyone you know asking if it's twins?

Everyone has been telling me it is twins and my ultrasound was to early it was possible that one didn't show up and everyone knows that so I am already getting asked 5 times a day are you sure it's not twins again? I figure this way I can get them to all ask together and then say "NO it isn't its one girl!"

Even with your explanations it's complicated and confusing. Sorry. Just post your kids holding a pink onesie or something.

  • I think it would be too confusing for Facebook. I feel like you'll be getting "Congrats on your twins!" for months after you do this and you'll constantly be explaining your joke over and over. Also, the "Boys can wear pink" thing might be confusing for a "Gender Reveal" picture.

I would just have one picture holding up a girl outfit and a boy outfit then the next picture only hold up the "correct" outfit. People will get it right away and you won't have tons of questions to follow up on.

I agree with this. I think you're overthinking the "boys can wear pink too..." thing. Just go with the "common" color for the gender so people will know right off the bat, then dress your baby how you want when he or she is born. No need to make that confusing statement now.

OP, it's confusing. Keep it simple, yo.

Plus, progressions in separate photos can get separated on people's newsfeeds and people will just end up with the one that says BOTH! because it will have the likes and comments and it will make zero sense.

If your progression is all one image, I don't see how you're going to fit all this info in. The baby shirts will be impossible to read.

  • Dirty Lurker here but the way I read it, is that you're having twins again and it's one of each. Just to clarify, you're not really telling the sex?

This. I don't understand why people are confused. You are trying to reveal sex without socializing gender expectations.
