Babies: 6 - 9 Months

solids-when to increase

I started ds on solids at 6 months.  He has been on them once a day, every day for probably 2 to 3 weeks now (each feed he eats 3 to 4 tablespoons).  How do you know when to increase that to 2 or 3 times a day?

DS has slept through the night since 9 weeks old and within the last few weeks he is starting to wake in the night again, but usually really inconsistently (one day he sleeps through the next he is up twice, etc).  This last week it has been every night and it usually isn't just once it's 2 or 3 times and he usually nurses when he wakes. Is this how you know to increase solids intake?  He did sprout some teeth a few weeks ago and he has been chewing like mad, but I don't see/feel anything. TIA

  • I increased based on my daughters interest.... She clearly was very interested in what we were eating so I used a babyfood mill and just gave her pretty much whatever we ate. She has become a really great eater and will NOT take a bottle before bed so this was all very interesting to me,,, also, the day she really started eating more foods, she did sleep betterat night as well as naps. It amazed me. I have a son too so my daughter knew meal times were coming because he was eating etc,,, in fact, she's like an old lady who wants her meals strictly at 8, noon 5! Ha! I let her suck down a bag of apples or some fruit pure for snacks too. Good luck!
