Re: Infant Car Seat Question
We flipped him around 9.5m. I waited until the last possible minute as we both loved the bucket. He HATED his convertible for quite a while. I did, too. It's the Graco MyRide 65 and is a PITA in several ways (at least RFing, it is; I haven't tried it FFing). I thought him sitting higher would be a plus for him, but it wasn't.
It's pretty common to outgrow carseats by height before weight. Height is more important as it has to do with head and neck support. So, once he's too tall, you really need to switch him.
I just got a convertible car seat two weeks ago. At 20 lbs LO was just too heavy to lug in and out of daycare in the infant seat, and because I never know if DH or I will be picking him up from daycare we didn't have a choice. I was going to spend the money on the Britax Boulevard, but ended up really liking the Graco MySize70 (plus the price is awesome). It has worked out really well, no regrets. We bought two but for now we still use the infant seat in DH's car. That way if we go out to eat and LO is sleepy we can carry him in.
BFP#1 10 wk missed mc
BFP#2 DS born at 40+2 on 8/14/12 BFP#3 DD Born at 39+3 on 5/13/14
We switched at 8 months because he HATED his infant seat. He used to trip out in the car, I never went anywhere with him b/c of it. Finally we just switched to a RF convertible seat b/c he could sit up on his own and had good torso control, and he could crawl so I knew he was stable enough to be that upright. The pedi agreed. He now loves the car.
I also just couldn't carry that heavy seat all over, I thought my arm was going to fall off. Though, now I miss being able to let him sleep when he falls asleep in there
Ours went up to 30 inches and a certain number of pounds, I dont remember how many. Pretty much, they will always max out on height before weight. I transitioned DD when DS was born and was going to use it. She was 16m, 29in and around 17lbs.
Since your LO only has an inch to go, I'd start looking around now for a good deal on a carseat you want.
I'm starting to research carseats right now for DS (7.5m). Probably switch him in a month or so.

You could switch to a convertible but keep him rear-facing (the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this until age two, now). I found this, it might be helpful!
