Parenting after a Loss

What 4 month old

Sleeps 12 hours without waking up??? Apparently my little girl after getting shots and spending the rest of the day doing a comfort nursing marathon. I'm so thankful that we got a video monitor a few weeks ago because I have been staring at her obsessively since I woke up, and woke up several times last night to stare at her. I'm glad she's getting so much sleep but if she doesn't wake up soon I think my boobs might explode Indifferent. MH even went and looked at her when he got up for work 3 hours ago and she didn't even wake up, if she didn't occasionally move a little and make some noises in her sleep I'd be freaking out right now. I'd wake her up but with how cranky she was yesterday I'm thinking she needs as much sleep as she can get.

  • Wow, that is seriously awesome. Poor thing, they must have really worn her out.

My son had the complete opposite night, I'm very tired and jealous!

Don't be too jealous, I think she used up all of her crying for the 6 hours after her appointment until bed time. And I didn't sleep as well as you'd think I would have because I kept waking up to check on her. I'm sorry your son didn't react well to his shots I hope he gets better with them as he gets older.

I guess awesome wasn't the right word after rereading! Poor thing cried for 6 hours?!? My son did not have any reaction to his shots this time but he is an awful sleeper. I guess I was more amazed that your LO could go that long! His sleep seems to get worse as he gets older, so I was in awe of 12 hours! I can totally understand waking up to check on her, I've done that before too!

Right after her shots I nursed her and she was all happy and smiling. I took her home and put her down for a nap (quite easily) and after sleeping for 30 minutes she woke up screaming. She than proceeded to go back and forth between sleeping, crying and nursing until bed time. It was quite exhausting.

Added: We're fortunate that she is a pretty good sleeper in general, she usually only wakes up once at night to eat and goes back down pretty easily after. She does not however nap very well and she is very opinionated and lets you and the rest of the world know any time your not doing what she wants, including trying to put her in the car seat or sitting on the couch she wants to constantly be going somewhere or doing something and has to be right there with you at all times. It makes it quite difficult to get anything done so as soon as mh finishes working I run around the house like a mad woman trying to get stuff done while he's playing with her.

  • After her shots yesterday, DD kind of drowsed on and off and we put her to bed earlier than usual. Of course, that throws off the nursing schedule a bit so she woke up hungry at 12:45 AM and 5:15AM.  Her usual wake up time is normally between 2 and 3AM (which I like best because Friends reruns are on!).  She really does not seem much affected by the shots other than being a little more weepy - her legs are probably sore. I keep reminding myself how sore my arm would be after getting a shot.  I can't imagine what it feels like in those plump little thighs.
