I don't know if this is the beginning of the 4 month wakeful (at almost 41/2 months) but my daughter's napping hasn't really changed, it's the nighttime if anything. We've just had two really rough nights now. They weren't back to back either. Sunday night was horrid, Monday was good, and last night was horrid.
I know that I am very lucky in that my DD normally sttn from 8:30 p.m. till roughly 8:00 a.m. with no waking to eat at all. However, on Sunday night, I had a really hard time getting her into bed (usually she will go down drowsy pretty easily) and she never fell asleep until close to 11 p.m. She then woke up at 3 a.m. and was crying her "hungry cry", so I fed her (this does happen about once every few weeks or so). Usually though she goes right back to sleep, but on Sunday she stayed awake until 5 a.m.
Then Monday night she was her usual self and last night she wouldn't go to bed at all until 11 p.m. She was rubbing her eyes and clearly overtired but fighting it with all she had. Then she woke up at 1:30. I may have been able to get her back to sleep without feeding her as she was settling down but I had already warmed a bottle just in case. I thought if she wanted some than no big deal if the rest was wasted. She drained it. She did go back to sleep though but was wide awake at 6:30 this morning. She was happy and ready to play.
My question is "if I'm so tired only getting roughly 5-6 hours of sleep, shouldn't she be tired?". Does this sound like the start of a wakeful period?
Re: Tell me your experience with the 4 Month Wakeful
DD did the same thing at the beginning of month 4 and it lasted two weeks... it was every other night up every 1-2 hours screaming (like she was hurt). If we ignored her, she got louder, if we went in she would calm down, but as soon as we left she'd scream. I tried not to pick her up unless I absolutely had to. It was a tough few weeks, but like anything, we got through it and it just stopped one night. At the time she was only napping 2x a day, we added a 3rd short nap around 4:30/5pm and it really seemed to help. GL!
