1:5 chance for downs syndrom

We just had our screen come back positive for a 1 in 5 chance high risk for Down syndrome. I will keep my baby either way and live it with all my heart, but this is heart breaking. Opted for the materna21 blood rest because its not invasive. Have to wait 10 business days. The other 2 tests have a miscarriage and aren't worth the risk.
As a mother you want the best life and everything for your baby. Just trying to wrap my head around this. Hoping for a negative result on the 21
Test but if its positive we will move forward and prepare.

    Im praying for you but they told my cousin the same thing and her baby came out perfectly fine. she is 13 now but she very bright active with sports and gets straight A's

    Down's syndrome kids I think some of the most adorable. I think you have the right mindset and I will be praying for you and your LO! Keep us updated!!!

    Praying for you and your baby.  It's obvious this child will be loved, and love and prayers do make miracles happen.  :)

    I have had two friends who were told the same thing and both delivered happy healthy children without Down syndrome. None of those tests are 100 accurate, just keep positive as it sounds like you are already!.

    It is always hard to hear your baby might not have the life you imagined for it. Prayers that your child is absolutely healthy. I can say my friends whose child has this has felt her life enriched so much by her child. A life different than your child than what you imagine can also have many beautiful aspects too.

    Thank you everyone. Woke up this morning feeling a little sad. Had strange dreams. Dreamt second test was positive and it was a girl. The waiting part is hard. God has a plan and I know whatever happens with our little bean, that it is what is meant to be. My husband said maybe we are supposed to have a baby with Down's syndrome because God knows we will love it wit everything and so will my step babies. And that maybe God has bigger plans for all of us:

    A friend has a DD with DS.  She is a happy, healthy little girl and developing on track in some areas and a little behind in others as expected.  All I can suggest is if your results do come back positive do as much learning of DS as you can.  It will help you greatly.  If you are interested I can share her blog with you.

    Lots of prayers for you.  I had a 1 in 40 risk and my friend had a 1 in 3 risk, and both of our daughters are perfectly fine.

    This makes me feel a bit better. My risk of 1 and less then 5 freaked me out. I'm a bit better today and staying positive and just talking to my baby bean in my tummy:
