Sono's every time????

Why??? If everything is normal??? Can this be harmful?

Re: Sono's every time????

  • I don't believe this is normal practice for most OB offices. As for being safe, I am not really sure....

I had around 10 with DD, but they were medically necessary.

  • I don't know why. I assume your doctor is recommending this? Studies show no increased risk to the baby.

  • My dr does one at every appointment and I'm not high risk. I'm not sure what there reasoning is for doing them but my insurance covers it and i haven't found anything to show they are harmful.

  • Have you asked your Dr if they are concerned? Usually sono's everytime means high risk or they are monitoring you for some reason. I'd check with your Dr. I don't believe its harmful though.
  • My OB does one at every appointment. He carries this portable sono machine which I've never seen before but we get to see baby each time we go.

  • My doctor also does one every time, and I am also not high risk.  As a PP said, studies have not shown there to be any risk in having sonograms.

I like having them and getting to see the baby :)

  • I get one every appointment it's part of my monthly check up I'm not high risk it's just something the doctor offers every time never worried about it being harmful I figured if it was he wouldn't do it so much and I never complain I like seeing my baby once a month
  • Ask your dr...

There is no conclusive evidence that it harms the baby. Lucas had over 40 u/s due to me being high risk.
