So, DS has been going to bed at his normal time, but for a few nights he has been lying there quiet, but awake. A couple of nights it was 10pm before he fell asleep.
Yesterday, he took a three hour nap (1-4), and then had a really hard time waking up at 4 when I decided he'd slept long enough. I didn't want him to sleep too late in hopes of getting his sleep back on track. I thought that he went to bed okay last night - I didn't notice him moving on the video monitor. He was also super perky when I woke him up.
Today, I put him down for his nap at 9:45 because he was soooooo cranky. I never put him down before 10:15-10:30. It's now 1:45 and he's still asleep. I decided to just leave him until he woke up to see how long he would go.
What is going on? I was able to get a good nap in, so I'm grateful, but I'm also kind of freaked out.
Does this sound like a teething issue? He has a couple trying to come in, so I'm wondering if that's keeping him awake. He doesn't act like he's in pain, so I'm hesitant to give him Tylenol/Advil.
Or is this super-long nap just his way of catching up on a few nights of bad sleep?
Or is he just pretending to be asleep while he is actually lying awake plotting how to get into mischief later? (j/k on that one.)
Thoughts?
Re: sleep confusion
// I love you too. //
That makes total sense - when I went to get him up right after I posted, he started listing off random knowledge to me, pointing out objects and stuff. It was hilarious. He does that on occasion, but today it just sounded like he'd spent the past 4 hours thinking deep thoughts about the things he listed off to me (mostly naming articles of clothing).
I think he's probably catching up on sleep, sounds like mental growth spurts are going on in that little guy's brain!
There is also a lot of sleep confusion in this house. DD has been (I think) very overstimulated lately, and having trouble settling down at night. We've been keeping super busy and doing tons of outside activities now that the weather is nice, and it's making it tough for her to wind down at the end of the day. So her sleep has been a little crazy. Plus, she is also trying like crazy to communicate, so I think her brain is on overload.
This happens every few months, and after a week or so, she crashes and sleeps for days, it seems!
