i am still shaken up!! we were driving and the car in front of us slammed on its brakes and swerved. then what i thought at first was a black trashbag was sort of flopping around on the street but it was a black cat that had been hit. it was severely injured RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, and having a seizure of some sort. i was freaking the F out saying what do we do what do we do, when the people that hit it thank F ran over and we moved out of the way. i am still so upset ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry to be a downer, it was just awful, awful awful
Re: witnessed something horrific
wtf did someone throw them out of a car? i hate the treatment of pits.
Ugh, that's awful. A couple of months ago, I was on my way home from work, when a large boxer ran out into the road in front of my car. I had to step on the brakes pretty hard to avoid him (though not hard enough to leave tire marks or anything). The guy behind me rear-ended me going about 40 mph. I drive a Jeep, he was in a little old Nissan. His car was totaled. He had the nerve to get out of his car and come up to my window and give ME sh!t because I stopped for the dog, and didn't just run it over apparently. HE ran into the back of my car and HE was pissed at ME! The crazy thing is, I figured he must have just totally not been paying attention at all, but before he even spoke to me, he was telling somebody else that stopped that a dog had run in the road, and he identified that it was a boxer. So he apparently was paying enough attention to see and identify the dog, but he still ran into me. I don't know if he just seriously expected that I would just continue on at 40 mph and mow the dog down, or what.
Sorry, random story, but it just made me remember what a d-bag that guy was.
I have no idea. They were in the left shoulder area. I know a lot of times when animals get hit, if they can make it out of traffic, they will, and so a lot of times you'll see them off to the side. I've seen lots of reports of dogs abandoned on freeways before, and it's disgusting. I've never seen dead dogs on the freeway before, though. And two of them, within 20 feet of each other. Terrible.

It breaks my heart every time I see a dead cat on the road. We live out in the country and have a ton of strays. DH always tells me, "that was a raccoon/possum" but half the time I think he is just saying that to keep me from getting too emotional.
My cat likes to hang out by our fence line and I go outside and yell at him every time I catch him that close to the highway. He just comes trotting back to the house as if nothing happened. My biggest fear every day is coming home from work to find him dead on the side of the road.
