Trying to Get Pregnant

16DPO, Mild cramping for 7 days, inconclusive HPT's...??

DH and I have been TTC for 8 months now. my cycle is a little unpredictable, but my average cycle length is about 32 days. I don't know for sure when I ovulated, but judging by my EWCM, I'm guessing I ovulated around April 13th or 14th. We had sex on the 5th, 10th, 12th, and 14th, and if I ovulated when I think I did, then I'm 5 days late for AF. I've used a number of the Wondfo HPT's, some have come up negative, and some have come up with a verrrrrry faint second line, like you have to stand in the light and squint to see it at first, and then over the course of maybe thirty minutes, a few of them have definitely been visible. I also took a First Response HPT, and that looked pretty negative, but I looked at it a few days later and I can see a second pink line now. I know I shouldn't look at those tests after five minutes, but I still wonder. I've also had mild cramps for the last 5 to 7 days, which is a while for me when it comes to cramping before my period. They're also quite intermittent cramps, they come and go, and that is also a little uncharacteristic for my "before AF cramps". I have been experiencing some breast tenderness, but that's normal for me if it's AF. Can anyone tell me if it sounds like I could be pregnant? I want to go get tested at the doctor, but Kaiser only does the pee tests to start, and then the blood test if the pee test is positive. With my HPT's being so inconclusive, I'm scared to go get tested with just another pee test and have it be a false negative or something. Sorry, lengthy post full of scrambled thoughts. I just want to be pregnant so bad, I feel like I'm losing my mind these past few days waiting for clearer results. Any help is much appreciated!

Re: 16DPO, Mild cramping for 7 days, inconclusive HPT's...??

  • I am a lurker on this board but you could have ovulated later than you thought. Unless you were charting your BBT, CM, and using OPKs there is really no way of knowing when you ovulated for sure. HPTs should be read in the time frame provided on the directions and not 30 minutes after. You are more than likely seeing evap lines.

Test once a week until AF shows or you go 60 days without a period. It can take a healthy couple up to a year of TTC and each month you have about a 20% chance of conceiving. Lurk a little on this board, the ladies here are very knowledgeable. If you are not charting, consider Fertility Friend. Its a super easy site to help you track your cycles. It really helped me out and I never heard of it before coming on this board. Also, read the newbie link.

You have your answer. A test that looks positive days after you took it, but was negative within the testing time frame, does not make you pregnant, as much as you might want to be. The unfortunate truth.

    PP gave good advice. GL!

  • Tests read outside the correct timeframe are not inconclusive. They are invalid. So invalid tests plus negative tests = not pregnant.

Check out the newbie blog and fertilityfriend.com. If you aren't charting, you can't tell if you are late.  You may be able to learn some things that can help you in the process. GL.

  • You're absolutely right about looking at the tests after the fiver minutes. I failed to mention in my scrambled post, that I have seen a faint second line more than once within the five minutes. If they were all after the five minutes, I doubt I'd be as confused. C=

This exactly. Wy are you keeping negative tests to look at days later? Tests have a time frame for a reason, the dye can do weird things after that.  If you can't turn a test 'conclusively' positive within the listed time frame, there's absolutely no need for a blood test at this time. Keep testing at home, and if you truly are pregnant, you'll eventually get a test that will show that clearly, but unfortunately wishing it to be so just won't make it so.

Important information to leave out, dontcha think?? Kind of makes your whole original ramble even more irrelevant. I regret taking the time to type out my last response now that I see you're fishing.

  • Can anyone tell me if it sounds like I could be pregnant?
No, we can't tell you. Only a pee test can. Also, how can a pee test HPT be inconclusive? Either you have two lines or you don't. It really doesn't require an advanced degree to read the instructions and see if the pictures match. You don't need a blood test. You need to wait it out and keep urinating on sticks.

For opinions on whether it sounds like I'm pregnant or not based on the symptoms and time frames I listed above. I'd hoped I would have run into someone who experienced similar cramping and might have had something of worth to offer me in the way of information.

Well, at least you're honest about your fishing. And I'm feeling nice this morning. Lucky you.

Symptoms mean exactly nothing. Why? Ever person is different. Every pregnancy is different. PMS symptoms are the same as pregnancy symptoms. Should I go on?

My suggestion is to pee on a stick tomorrow morning with FMU. If it's positive, head on over to first tri. Do not pass go, do not collect congratulations from TTGP. If it's negative, check out the TTGP blog/newbie link, consider charting, continue taking HPTs once a week until you reach 60 days with no period -- then after 60 days, call your doctor.

Do you honestly think we can tell you if you're pregnant or not based on cramps?

Common sense should tell you the answer is no.

If you got a second faint line within the time frame, you're pregnant.

WOW!! Why are you all so rude on this board?! I came here with an open heart asking for advice, and assumed I would find some friendly people who might be willing to offer their wisdom to a newcomer, and instead I'm being berated and talked down to like I'm an uneducated moron because I don't trust that my eyes are seeing what they're seeing?! I have never asked a question on one of these boards before, and I'm saddened to say I don't think I ever will again. Who do any of you think you are to tear someone apart like this??

    For the record...

I'm NOT saving negative tests, I saved the tests that had a faint enough second line that I wasn't sure if I was imagining it or not, and dated them so I could see if the second lines got darker with each successive test. Some were darker, then some after that were negative, then some were a faint line again after that. THAT'S HOW IT CAN BE INCONCLUSIVE.

I'm not asking for anyone to tell me "YES! YOU'RE PREGNANT!" I just wanted to hear sound advice from a person who has been through something similar, whether they ended up pregnant or not.

I'm just a lady trying desperately to start a family, and you all just tore me to shreds. I hope that helped you start your day off feeling good about yourself. I know if it were me I'd want to hide under a rock and try to be a better person tomorrow.

I still fail to see the problem. Did you read the directions on the tests? A line is a line. Maybe the one's that were negative were taken with less concentrated pee. I still fail to see why you posted about positive pee sticks on a TTGP board. And ftr I love myself just the way I am.

    Bingo!?
  • Peanut gave you good advice.  You seriously cannot expect a group of internet strangers to 1. know if you are KU and 2. be nice to you about your idiotic questions that common sense can answer.  A negative test = not pregnant.  Test again tomorrow with FMU with a digital if you think the other tests have been inconclusive.

One more piece of advice: if that one is positive, post in 1st tri.

ETA: Why would you want opinions on if you were pregnant or not?  That makes no sense to me.

No one is tearing you apart. We are simply offering very straight forward answers to your pointed question about whether or not someone can tell you that you are pregnant based on the listed symptoms. The truth is, that we can't. That doesn't make us rude. It makes us unable to see inside your reproductive organs and tell you, without a doubt, if you are pregnant. You've gotten some really precise, accurate advice. It seems like its just not what you want to hear, or you want us to sugar coat the information for you. I'm sorry, this isn't a bakery. You asked a question and got the same answer from multiple people. BTW, if you think you have a positive pregnancy test then you join me, and KDG over on the trimester boards where the pregnants hang out.

A line is a line WITHIN IN THE TIME FRAME, seriously. Not hard. You are making something so incredibly straight forward into something very very complicated. Stop it. If the second line appeared outside of the 5 minute time frame then its INVALID, not inconclusive, but not worth a damn. Throw the pee stick away and test again in the morning. Again, not hard if you have two brain cells to rub together. Stop making it complicated. Follow the SIMPLE instructions.

    imageprillywee:

Actually, you did ask the question verbatim "so with these symptoms can anyone tell me if I am pregnant". You are butthurt with the responses that say, "I don't know or keep testing". So obviously you wanted us to tell you that you are  pregnant

    imageprillywee:
I hope that helped you start your day off feeling good about yourself. I know if it were me I'd want to hide under a rock and try to be a better person tomorrow.

So you are the one asking us to divine if you are pregnant based on symptoms that are very similar to PMS, then getting offended/dramatic when people take time out of their day to answer you? Then you go on insult them when YOU are the one asking us for help to decipher your body? How does that work? Why should we want to hide under a rock? I would think the person asking how to take a pee stick when the instructions are right in front of you in plain english should feel the desire to hide under a rock for acting like a diva.

You asked for help and you got it. Just because you didn't LIKE the answers doesn't mean there is a problem with the entire board.  I fail to see how I am the bad person here if I'm doing exactly what you asked and answering your question to the best of my ability. That doesn't mean that I'm required to be nice about it, especially when you insist on acting like a brat.

  • This is what happened to my good friend two months ago. The tests had a really faint second line that would get darker after 30 minutes.some tests came out negative and would change to positive after 30+ minutes. After a few days of that she finally saw a darker obvious positive. This can happen and it's super confusing because it looks like all the tests aren't working. They were wondfo tests.

That doesn't mean it's what happening with you, just that it's what happened to her. :)

  • I've had positive and negatives at the same time before and it is very confusing and disappointing. That cycle was likely a CP for me. Hopefully you have better luck.

Did you really say where the pregnants hang out?
