Good Morning, Ladies!
Welcome to the Healthy Living Check-In! We're just a group of women who are striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise, or anything in between. If you're new, feel free to jump in and join us! We check in on Mondays and Wednesdays, with an accountability follow-up on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it?s set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you?re using MFP and haven?t found us yet, let us know so we can friend you! I personally don?t log on to MFP daily because the diet I follow doesn?t require me to count calories. I do however check it daily and can be found by my email address: ashleym@accnorwalk.com.

If you?re interested in participating in the TTCAL Healthy Living board on Pinterest, please either include a link to your page in your post, or send it to me in a PM so I can add you! The more, the merrier!

Re: *~*Healthy Living Check-In*~*
QOTD: We have two dogs, Charlie and Milo. Charlie is a German Shepherd mixed with something else. We rescued him from a shelter and a little old lady found him as a newborn pup, abandoned on her porch and full of worms. Now he's worm free and huge. We have no idea what he's mixed with but it's got to be another big dog.
The good: Stayed within my calorie goal 2 of 3 days since starting. Tracked calories all three days. Exercised all three days. Half hour on elliptical every day and 2 mile walk two days. Made healthier eating choices. As in didn't eat the fried shrimp DH made but just ate the sweet potato salad recipe I found on skinnytaste.com.
The bad: Completely binged on my chocolate craving yesterday.
Was in the drugstore and was getting lifesavers for myself as they help me have something to suck on to curb the eating urges. I know they aren't the best choice but they're better than the alternative of snacking overboard.
Anyway thought I'd buy a little bag of Reisins for DH since he's suffering too without chocolate. And said well I'll just have one and that will curb my craving. Oh no it just made it worse. Much, much worse. Four Reisins AND a Skor bar later....
Ugggh. No bueno. That's when I decided to give up the fried shrimp for dinner. But still I was saving those calories!! And totally shouldn't have binged like that!!
The proud: Really the same as the good. Except that I'm proud of being back on MFP and kicking my own butt into gear again. I decided losing this weight is like quitting smoking for me. It may take 20 tries but dammit I am going to keep trying and one of these times it's going to stick!!
The plan: Biggest things are continuing to track calories and get on the elliptical every day.

Hi Anita, I'm glad you decided to join us! Chocolate cravings are the worst, I can't even have it in the house when I'm trying to eat healthy. Around Easter I bought a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs since I can't get them year round, with the intention of hiding them until I reached my goals. Well they were fine when I had them hidden in my trunk and forgot about them. Then it warmed up so I brought them in the house... they were gone 3 days later.
Great job with the exercise and staying within your calories the rest of the days! You can do this! Have you set any goals for yourself as far as how much weight you want to lose?
Great job working out over the weekend and starting the squat challenge! (and starting it on time
lol) Not gaining anything is great, the pounds will fall off eventually. Keep up the good work!

I'm hoping I can keep up with the challenge now that I have started...it wasn't to hard 50 squats isn't that bad. I'm curious to see what it is going to be like when its up to 200!

Dairy free is so much harder for me than gluten free because I love cheese also. lol I have to avoid both when it comes to following a paleo diet, it's hard but not impossible!
Good luck with the C25K program. Your exercise plan sounds great!!
I'm sorry about the two pounds, that can be frustrating. I'd definitely focus on what your eating, as that could be the problem. "You can't out-exercise a bad diet" is what I've always been told.. even though I try.
I have P90X, but I never make it through the fool 90 days because I get bored with it. I just got TurboFire in the mail over the weekend that I'm starting today. It's from Beachbody also, and is also 90 days. So we can still support each other!
My dog Milo used to drive me nuts too. Then we got Charlie who is 100x worse than Milo ever was and makes him look like an angel. lol
That's what I'm nervous about! lol
Hi mattsgirl! You are doing great with getting back on track! Congratulations on the 2.5 lbs, that's awesome!! Keep it up!
And yes, those definitely sound like names a man would pick for pets.
THE GOOD: I ran 3 miles last night and walked the dog with DH.
THE BAD: I ate a TON of those mini-meat sticks (like summer sausage-type meat) yesterday.
THE PROUD: I ran 3 miles. I don't usually work out on Sundays.
THE PLAN: Run M-Th and try to somewhat prepare for our half marathon on Saturday. EEP! Definitely not ready for that!
QOTD: I have a black lab named Lager. She's 7 years old and adorable.

Hey everyone! I'm new to the TTAL board but am excited to take part and glad for this post. Trying to be healthy is a constant struggle for me as it is for all of us but it is so important to me. Good luck to everyone this week!
The Good: I miscarried 4 weeks ago now and had taken a 5 week workout break before that out of sheer fear. I have now officially been back in the gym for about 3 weeks and I'm feeling soooo much better. I'm still not where I was but I'm getting there!
The Bad: I have yet to get my eating back under good control. My husband and I both struggle with this so we can negative influence each other. When I went off my Metformin when pregnant I gained 10 lbs and craved sugar like no other! Now that I'm back on it the sugar cravings are better but I'm stress/comfort eating like crazy. I just want to feel better and it temporarily does that for me.
The Proud: I lost 100 lbs in the past few years with the one goal of wanting to be healthy when finally TTC and get pregnant. I am down to a much healthier weight (160 from 260!) but still have some goals to reach!
The Plan: I'm at about 160 right now. I was at 155 pre-pregnancy. I'd like to get to between 150-155 lbs in the next couple of months while I'm still TTA. This week I'd like to start making healthier eating choices. I also want to work out to some extent every day.
Pets: I have 2 very chubby kitties named Buddy and Gabby. They are brother and sister and I've had them since the sixth grade. They are 15 years old now and just keep going! They better keep going because they are truly like children to me!
Thanks so much :]. Final goal is to weigh 125. I'm at 192. Long, long way to go :[. So I'm just trying to think of 5lbs at a time. And I want to think of little healthy rewards at various milestones. Like treating myself to a pedicure. But mainly it's the clothes. I MISS clothes I like!!!!!! I still have a whole bunch of clothes from my skinnier days that I love and miss so they are calling out to me :]

Great job on the running! Ahhh for the half marathon, it's getting so close! Don't overdo it on the training this week, you don't want to wear yourself out. Good luck!
We talked about it on Friday and a few of us decided to do it. I didn't start on Friday like everybody else and am starting tonight if you want to jump in! Here it is:
Hello and welcome to the check-in. I am so sorry for your loss, but glad that you found us!
Congrats on the 100lbs!! That is incredible! I'm glad that you are using your TTA cycles to work on getting healthier again. You can do this and we are all behind you. Good luck!
You can do this! I'm glad that you are thinking of pampering style rewards for your milestones. That's a great idea, and so much better than treating yourself with food. I'm with you on the clothes. I'm still stuck in maternity stuff because I gained so much after my loss and I still haven't lost it all. If I don't get my butt in gear none of my summer clothes will fit!
My goal ultimate goal is 135, but with my height idk how possible that is. I was down to 145 by my wedding, then gained 25lbs between my wedding and first prenatal appt. Then after our loss I went on a comfort food binge and gained another 17, putting me at 187. I'm down to 178 as of this morning.. but I was all the way down to 171 before Easter. Both of our weight loss goals are drastic but I know we can do it!
Side note.. this is the first time ever I've came out and admitted my weight since gaining all of this. I'll tell people how much I've gained or lost.. but I've been so ashamed of how high it's gotten. I guess that's the first step to really getting serious about getting it off!
Ab Ripper X is intense, but you'll get better at it in time. All of the workouts will be hard at first, but once you start getting into shape it will get easier. Don't give up!
Are you talking about the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred..I think I have that one too.
haha
That last part about your dogs made me Lol. Mine are the same way. One minute they're cuddling and the next they're wrestling or growling at one another.
Good luck this week. Healthy eating is the most important factor with weight loss/healthy living, so if you can focus on that while you're not working out this week you'll be fine!
Thanks! I'm excited about the running. When my life was crazy 5 years ago (getting married, graduating nursing school, moving overseas, and a few other things in a 6 mo period) I used running as an escape. I'm hoping I can find that mindset again instead of just using it for exercise like I've been doing the last few years.
Ive just been researching dairy-free cheeses. Hopefully I can either find one worth eating, or find one disgusting enough to put me off the idea all together!
Running has always been a stress reliever for me too! It's amazing how much better you feel after a good run. I can't wait till it warms up (and stays warm) so I can start running more again.
Good luck with the dairy free cheese.
Let me know if you find anything good!
Hi everyone,
Mind if I join? I could use some accountability and motivation. My goal is to lose some weight. I am not quite sure how much since my scale at home is broken. I also want to get back into running. I plan to join MFP and start counting calories and get the workouts in.
The Good: Have been trying to make decent food choices and not giving in and ordering takeout and eating total crap.
The Bad: I am so so so weak when it comes to food... And I am really out of shape!
The Proud: I started jogging with the dog in the morning. This isn't a really great workout since I need to stop for him at least once or twice to pee and poop, but it is something! I also started the squat challenge yesterday with my SIL. I also got a 2.5 mile jog in on Saturday.
The Plan: Jog with the dog every morning. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Softball and kickball leagues are starting up this week, and get to the gym to round out workouts.
QOTD: Well, as I mentioned, I have a dog: a three year old collie/lab mix who I completely love and spoil. We also have a turtle. Not sure how old she is exactly, but DH has had her for 24 years now...

Hi Superkim! Of course you can join us, we love new members! Welcome!
Takeout food is my mortal enemy and I have to fight so hard not to give into it, so I share that struggle with you. Getting into healthy eating habits can be so hard, but you can do it! There are many of us here who are following a variety of different "diets", from Paleo to gluten free to weight watchers and more. If you have any questions or want advice, any of these lovely ladies or myself would be happy to help you!
Good luck!
Yeah I wouldn't recommend starting it this week with that half marathon coming up! Haha
We added it all up and it's over 3,000 squats in one month!
THE BAD: terrible food week last week and weekend.
THE PROUD: I'm having trouble thinking of something.
THE PLAN: try to stay on track food wise and get back into my exercise routine.
Question of the Day: Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names? I have a shih tzu named bella. And a turtle at work names lil wee.
Great job on starting fresh! Put last week/weekend behind you and move forward this week with a clean slate. You can do it!
Nice thanks for sharing! Im really hoping it does something!

New to joing this check in! Hopefully it will keep me more motivated!!
THE GOOD: I'm back under my pre preg weight! So now just trying to get my stomach back to normal ish!
THE BAD: I can avoid bad stuff unless its infront of me. I work with a guy we call sugar daddy and he's always giving me stuff! Needless to say since I've been back to work he's left me treats.
THE PROUD: The fridge has all healthy food in it probably for the first time ever!
THE PLAN: I'm starting yoga in the morning before work to calm me. The 30 day shred when I get home from work and then doing the squat challenge with DH before bed.
Question of the Day: Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names? Yes, a 15 pound cat that is DH.. his name is Samuel L Mother.. Effin Jackson.. he has to have a tuff name because he has no claws...balls..or tail.. and he's scared to death of the outside world...so we renamed him from sammy to that! But I just call him fatty..he is an emotional eater and a grazer and just lounges around his food bowl!

Hi, welcome to the check-in! Great job getting back to your pre-pregnancy weight, and stocking up on healthy foods! We have a guy like your "sugar daddy" where I work also, he's always passing out Snickers and Milky Ways. I usually try to give mine to my coworker, but sometimes I give in.
Your workout plan sounds awesome!
Thank you! It's great to be here. My plan for tonight is swordfish kabobs on the grill with a glass of wine (if I'm not KU anymore, might as well make the best of it)!

Great job getting your workout in today! It's so hard to workout when you've got a busy schedule, but you just gotta try to make the time!
