Amazon registry opinions needed!

I started our baby registry on amazon and now I'm addicted! I love reading reviews from other parents and seeing my growing list of baby items makes me so excited! I'm not expecting to be gifted a ton from the registry, which is fine with me, I'm sort of using it as a checklist for myself, how ever, I've only been adding essential newborn items and started thinking about adding little fun toys and books for the baby's first year. What do you guys think? I don't want up to go registry crazy though. How much are you putting on yours? Also I think we are only going to use amazon. I debated using target but I don't want to double up or divide the list? Thoughts?

  • I started a registry on Amazon as well. So fun. I don't expect a ton of gifts from there either as we are adopting. I find their prices much more reasonable than babies r us and they have a ton of stuff. I tried not to go registry crazy for our wedding and I only registered for china and stuff we wouldn't normally buy ourselves. I tried to do the same with the baby.

  • I am using amazon too. So far it's just private, as a reminder for what I may want to officially register for, but I think I'm just going to keep it. Prices and selection seem to be the best I've seen.
ETA I think it's great to add books and toys. Even if people don't buy the exact items that you register for, they know you want those things and will have fun picking things out.

  • Thanks guys! I'm sure I'll spend another part of my evening playing with the registry!

  • I had an amazon registry with each of my girls. It covered items for the first year or so. After that I created each of them a wish list so people can shop off that for holidays or birthdays. It lets people know her sizes and interests, as long as I keep it updated.

  • We only had an Amazon registry last time around, and will with this baby, too.  Some people bought us stuff from Amazon, and others just looked on there and bought some stuff at Target or something (friends can mark things as purchased even if they didn't order from Amazon).  We didn't have a problem with duplicates.  Also, Amazon has a universal registry, so you can add things from other sites, too.  They don't have a ton of clothes, but people will buy you those anyway, and they like to pick out what they think is cute!

  • You will probably get far less from your registry if its online only. But if you don't care, then that's all that matters.

As far as how much, just put whatever you need. Even toiletries like bath gel and stuff. You will want people to know what brand you prefer. We like Aveeno, for example, over the more common Johnson's. and make sure you register for things in a variety of price points.

Also, if you are CDing, Amazon is a great source for those.

And FYI, you can add items from any store to your amazon registry.
