Anyone Eatten it while pregnant? I just went and had some...the machine was cleaned 6hours ago...but I know pregnant women are "supposed" to stay away for frozen yogurt machines. Do you think it's that big of a deal? Should I be worried??
Red Mango is the best! They have pretty high standards in all their stores, I'm going to guess it would be okay. It is for me anyway, not giving that treat up anytime soon!

Since becoming pregnant I've had frozen yogurt 2 or 3 times (from another chain called 16 Handles which is also delicious).
I'm following most of the foods-to-avoid guidelines but I don't buy the whole "you don't know how often they clean the machine" bit because with any restaurant food you NEVER know when they've cleaned anything, really. As long as it's from a reputable chain, I don't think fro-yo is an issue.
...but maybe I'm biased since Red Mango is my favorite & they're opening a new store 2 blocks from me. :-o
I think this is one of those situations where you just need to bow. Your decision to eat the fro to. If you are going to disregard a "pregnancy rule," it is not helpful to then spend the next 12 hours beating yourself up about it.
The reason that some people avoid fro yo during pregnancy is the risk of listeria. Listeriosis is really devastating for pregnant women. But the actual risk to any one woman who eats fro yo or deli meat is very, very small.
It takes about 20 days for symptoms of listeriosis to appear after you eat something contaminated with listeria, so beating yourself up the night after you enjoyed fro yo is pointless. As you have seen here, many women, includinge, enjoy fro yo during their pregnancy. But if you are going to do it, just own it, because it is the worst of all worlds if you eat it and then put yourself on a massive guilt trip. If you know you are going to feel guilty, maybe it is better to avoid it from now on, just to avoid the angst?
