Zofran?

Good morning,

Well not for me I guess...I am about at the end of my rope with this morning sickness. I knew to expect this but it is all day, every day and seems to be getting worse. I've been taking 50 mg of B6 in the morning and that helped me stop throwing up but the nausea is still really intense. I try to eat every couple of hours and that does help some but the menu of things I can tolerate shrinks a little more each day. At this point it's down to bagels and grilled cheese sandwiches. RE said he would prescribe me Zofran when I saw him on Thurs and I said I would wait it out because I really didn't want to take anything if I didn't have to. Well, now that I've done nothing but lay on the couch for the past 3 days feeling absolutely miserable, I think I have to.

How many of you take this for morning sickness and did you find it helped your nausea? Is there anything else out there I should ask about? TIA!

It's a mircale drug. I've had it at the hospital when I've had really bad stomach flu, it works wonders.

My nausea has been so-so this time around, some good days, some bad days, and for the most part I'm working through it, but I have to fly next week for a work trip and I get nauseated anyway on planes, so I asked for prescription, and only plan to take it when I'm flying. I can't imagine anything worse than up-chucking on a plane in a suit.

I say if you need it, take it. I am still working full time so if it gets really bad to where I can't work, I really will have to think about taking it more often.

It's seriously my miracle drug. I had it in my IV line last week when I had to go and get fluids due to dehyrdation.

My nausea has been prettty bad all day and every day. I also just got diagnosed with Hyperemesis which is no fun at all. I would defineately call your doc and see if they can call it in.

Zofran is my best friend. I only take it on the miserable days, but it works like a charm! Hope you feel better!

Zofran is VERY constipating. Make sure you increase your fiber and/or take stool softeners. Trust me.

True, that's the only downfall, but I can handle that better than vomiting all day every day. Drink lots of water!

I am glad you are getting it! The thing is you don't HAVE to take it even if its at your house. Sometimes just having it in my purse helps me. Also, as PP said make sure you don't get constipated and beware it might give you a headache. But really it would be better than ending up in the hospital dehydrated.

Thanks for the tips! I'm already kind of backed up as it is, I've only been going every couple of days so I def needed to know that. I just can't stand feeling so sick every day. I've had to call out of work twice already and I just can't make that a habit. Throwing up at work though is brutal. So I really hope this is the answer! Thanks for the input, ladies

I have been on Zofran since 2 weeks after the ET and the dr also gave me a suppository because I was so miserable. I still throw up but only 2-3 times a day now, which is a HUGE improvement. Watch out for the constipation. Some days I just deal with the vomitting until the constipation gets better and then start taking it again

I've been taking it since early first tri. First I tried the combo of B6 and Unisom (the over the counter sleep aid). My OB said that combination is really good for morning sickness and I agree. I hate ginger otherwise I'd have tried that as well. Ultimately I settled on B6, Unisome, Zofran, and Phenergan at night. It has been working pretty well for me, especially lately. Now I only throw up 5-6 times a week but I don't feel as nauseous throughout the day.

I took it and it was a gift from Heaven!!! I still noticed eating small meals really helped, which was hard to do because i didn't always feel hungry, but sometimes it just meant snacking on a few crackers and drinking water.

I say get it!!!!

Thanks! I did get it yesterday and found that it helped a lot. I haven't taken any today, only B6 this morning and I still feel good. It's good to have it though...sure I'm far from out of the woods!

I agree that Zofran is great. My only other info for you is that you can develop a tolerance to Zofran (I did). So, if you take it for a few weeks and all of a sudden feel like its not working as well as it used to, see if you can get Phenergan. For me, it worked just as well, and it doesn't make you constipated. Good luck!
