Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Why are there no mcs on TV/movies

I feel like sometimes they talk about people struggling to conceive, but no one ever seems to have a mc on TV or in the movie stories. wtf, it is super common.  I feel like homosexuality has been increasingly 'normalized' by its commonness in TV and movies, I just wish they would do that with mc given how common it is and how lonely it feels.  Also i wish i could tell People.com to stop it with its constant baby-themed headlines, e.g. "for the second week in a row our best dressed is a pregnant star." *deep breath* i can't control the world and need to learn to cope in the world I actually live in. It makes me want to take steps to raise awareness and help other women who feel isolated after losing a pregnancy.

Re: Why are there no mcs on TV/movies

  • I agree so much on this. Since it is so common why do we have to feel so alone with all of this?

  • I agree....we should look into it maybe thaere is solmething we can do...and u r both r we feel so alone evrn with all of us on this board or people around us
  • I was thinking the exact same thing the other day!!!! And the stars seem to announce during first trimester a lot of times too. So annoying, it really is
  • I agree with this so much! There should definitely be some light shed on it. Baby books too. There is nothing in them about this devastating end. They focus only on positive, healthy aspects of pregnancy. Like m/c doesn't exist...

I have to disagree. There are numerous movies and TV show's that have characters who miscarried in them.

    Greys anatomy (TV show)
    Pretty little .liars (TV show)
    Big Love (TV show)
    King of Queens (TV show)
19 kids and counting (reality show)
    Erin Brockovich (movie)
    Up (movie)
    The Help (movie)
    Marley and me (movie)
    the time Travelers Wife (movie)
    the lovely bones (movie)
    children of men (movie)
    the forgotten (movie)
    the other Boleyn girl (movie)
    country strong (movie)
    city of angles (movie)

There's also numerous celebrities who are coming forward o speak about their MCs
    Beyonce,
    Lisa Ling,
    Pink,
    Gwenyth Paltrow,
    Bethenny Frankle,
    Guiliana Rancic,
    Lilly Allen,
    Mariah Carey,
    Nicole Kidman,
    Celine Dion,
    Courtney Cox,
    Brooke Shields,
    Michelle Duggard

and that's just to name a few

Excellent -- thanks-- I probably just wasn't noticing them before I went through it.  Now it seems like everyone on TV / movies just has a happy healthy normal pregnancy, but that is likely because my perception is skewed :-/

  • I don't watch much tv. Movies. Or read magazines so 8I guess that's why I feel like I jnever hear about the bad nesw
