Supplementing?

DS is in traditional public school and in first grade. Next year he is switching to a public Montessori.  If the Montessori doesn't work out we are entertaining the idea of starting home school now instead of waiting until middle school.   In the meantime I'd like to give homeschool a try over the summer and work on his weaker subjects like reading and math.  What might be some good programs to try? Thanks!
