NBR wedding gift question

Last minute today me and DH were asked to witness a justice of the peace wedding this Sunday. The couple have been engaged for a few years now and have a home and are well off financially. Im not sure what would be an appropriate gift? It's customary where we live to give money at traditional weddings, I feel a little weird doing that though in this situation. Any ideas on what to give them? We don't have too much money right now to spend but I don't think its right to show up with nothing.

I think if you agreed to be a part of the wedding- regardless of what type of wedding it is OR the couple's financial status- you should give a customary wedding gift...

Maybe a nice plant. I know it seems a little cheesy, but a peace lily is really pretty when it blooms and they are low maintenence.

Or find a plant with some 'love' meaning to it and print out the explanation.

I think champagne for a post-ceremony toast is a lovely idea.  If you have time to pick up a set of nice toasting flutes, or if they have a lot of glassware, maybe get a set engraved at the mall with the wedding date and include it with the bottle of
