Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Rolling Over

Hello All,

At how many weeks did your little ones roll over from belly to back without any help? My baby is now 16 weeks and still can't roll over.

Thanks

Re: Rolling Over

  • Mine just did it for the first time a couple weeks ago but hasn't done it since! She's a pro from her back to her belly though, it's like she forgot how to go the other way already :)

  • My DD is 20 weeks today and she did it for the first time yesterday.  Since then, every time I put her on her belly she rolls over and is very happy with herself!  So cute. Still hasn't figured out back to belly yet - but my other 2 were the same way.  They all rolled belly to back around 4 months, but the other 2 didn't roll back to belly until 6+months.

  • My LO is almost 4 months and she only rolled over from belly to back twice. She seemed pretty surprised when it happened. She hasn't done the opposite yet.

  • Its not something to worry about.  Kids do it at a wide range of ages.

  • LO started rolling over from tummy to back at 3 months. She does it more now, but hasn't quite mastered back to tummy.

  • Mine did at like 13 weeks but isn't consistent. She does it every few days, she keeps acting like she forgot.
  • She rolled belly to back at 13 weeks and back to belly at 16 weeks. I think it helps that she's long and skinny... She doesn't really have much of a belly to get in the way!
  • DD was 3.5 months when she rolled back to belly and around 4 months when she rolled belly to back. To me that's early if anything so I wouldn't worry if your LO isn't at 16 weeks. There is still plenty of time.

  • My LO was just shy of four months when he rolled from belly to back. Most babies tend to roll from back to belly first though. I wouldn't worry, lots of babies don't roll over until 5 or 6 months and that's perfectly normal. Your LO will roll when he or she is ready.

  • DD will be 6 mos this week and hasn't done either.  She can mostly sit on her own (but I wouldn't trust it) and bears all her weight on her legs when standing.  Getting close to rolling back to belly, but belly to back, not so much.

  • Our little guy is 8 weeks old and almost instantly rolls over from belly to back everytime we put him in "tummy time".
He is of course far from rolling from back to belly... That's for later.
  • My Daughter is almost 5 months she hasn't roller over completely yet, but you should see her little butt in the air moving.
