Team Green baby is here! PIPs

Short version:  Team green turned team pink. Induction. Failed epidural. M.argaret A.lette arrived @ 12:13pm. 6lbs 9oz and 18.25 inches.

Long version: At my doctors appointment on Monday my fluid was low and baby wasn't as active as they would have liked so she decided to go ahead and induce Tuesday morning.  ::cue me freaking out about not having ish together and ready to go::

We got all checked in and she broke my water at 7:30 am hoping that would start things going.  While she broke it she was trying to insert the internal monitoring probe and she dilated me from a 3.5 to a 5 trying to get it in there (according to her) and she never could get it inserted since LO's head was already so low.

She checked me at 8:00ish and nothing had changed dilation wise and I wasn't having any kind of regular contractions so they started pitocin at the lowest possible dose at 8:15.  So, I had a new nurse who was doing "orientation" and I was like her second delivery ever.  She sucked, a lot, and was giving me the wrong strength of pitocin and the wrong rate so it wasn't doing sh!t.  The "senior" nurse came in and adjusted stuff but my contrations still weren't doing a whole lot so at 9 they upped my pitocin rate a little bit.

My plan was to try and do it without the epidural so I labored for awhile and it wasn't too bad.  They started getting stronger and stronger and closer together and finally I just decided I would get the epidural at about 10:30.  I had to wait for them to run two bags of fluids before the anesthesiologist could come in though.  They gave me a shot of stadol while I was waiting for the anesthesiologist which was horrible.  It did absolutely nothing for my pain it just made me feel drunk as a skunk in between contractions.  MH said I was pretty hilarious though.  At one point I was chewing gum and a contraction hit and I was trying to breathe through it but the gum was a problem so I just spit it out at MH.  And another time he hit the bed (tapped it according to him) while I was having a contraction and I said "You just hit the bed.  Do not EVER do that again". Apparently I get kind of b!tchy during labor. :)

The anesthesiologist finally got there at about 11:30 and they made MH leave the room while they were doing the epidural.  At this point my contractions were right on top of each other and I really wasn't getting a break between them at all.  I was completely shaky but still felt really out of it from the stadol and the pain.  I got really hot and dizzy while I was sitting up waiting on the epi placement and I felt like I was going to vomit.  Thankfully I didn't though.  He finally got it in and it didn't freaking work at all on my right side.

As soon as I got laid back down they checked me and I was at 9.5cm and 100% effaced so I basically dilated the whole way while waiting on my crappy epidural that didn't work anyways.  I feel like I should get a refund on it or something. Wink  The pain was horrible and localized right in one line down my right side so I was really really out of it at this point.  They called the doctor, got everything set up and she got there at about 12 I think.  She got me all situated and I won't lie it was hard to push through the pain because all I could focus on was the pain not the pushing.  Then I could feel DD moving down the canal and I could feel all of the stretching and burning while she crowned and pushed her head through.  I pushed 7 or 8 times over 3 contractions and she was out in about 10 minutes.

They announced it was a girl and put her right on my skin.  She was so tiny and cute and I was in awe of her.   It actually took a minute to sink in that it was a girl!  She started making weird coughing/sneezing noises though and her color started to get a little bad so they took her over to the baby cart deal and tried to get her pulse ox readings.   It was pretty low so as soon as they got her weighed, foot printed, and all that they took her right up to the nursery to go under an oxygen hood/helmet deal.  MH went with her and I was left in the delivery room by myself while they stitched me up and then while my half epidural wore off.

They had me pump and I got to go in and watch while they syringe fed her some colostrum.  She stayed in the nursery until about 7pm when she finally got to come into our room and MH got to hold her for the first time and DD got to meet her for the first time.

We went home yesterday afternoon and so far she is doing great.  I can't believe that I have two little girls at home now! :)  Big sister absolutely adores her and wants to hold and kiss her all the time.  She is constantly calling her "my baby".

And for reading all of that here are the PIPs which I will delete later so please don't quote them. :)
