so pissed about work vacation time

our company merged last July, and we now have new vacation rules.  i was saving up A TON of vacation time every way i could in preparation for mat. leave---  however I just found out that i have to use 50, yes, 50 hours worth of vaccation time by june 30th or lose it. i am part time so this is 2.5 weeks worth of time i could have been paid during mat leave.  dslifdsjldkffldsk

so now i just have to take 2.5 weeks off for nothing!

  • That stinks! Do they know the reason you've been saving it?
  • There's no option to take the pay but not the time?  LAME.
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • that really sucks!

  • I would be so pissed off! this makes me want to punch someones face in lol
  • i am going to push back next week and say that the rules weren't explained to me correctly (which they were NOT), so as a newly merged employee i should get mercy lol

  • I just had the same thing happen with my personal days!!!! I have I use them all by June 1st. Thankfully they havent touched my vacation days since I need them to extend a super short maternity leave.
  • Do they have a reason why you have to use them by their deadline. It doesn't make sense. Who cares when you use them?

    I hate arbitrary rules.

  • I know it sucks but you should be happy to get any vacation time at all if you are part time, cause a lot of part time jobs so not give you anything.

  • That effing sucks!  I hate corporate BS.  If there is no way to carry over the time, just take some days off during the summer and enjoy life for a couple of weeks.  Try to schedule it during a time that would really screw them up.

Seriously? They won't let you have it as pay rather than time off?
