TDAP while pregnant?

My friend is just starting her third tri and was told by her doc that they are now recommending all pregnant women get the TDAP vaccine in their 3rd tri with every pregnancy. Apparently, it passes on immunity to baby since they can't get it for a couple of months.

Has anyone else heard of this? Would you get it? My doc hasn't even brought it up, but it's still quite early. lol

ETA: I'm not asking about the TDAP in general. I'm asking for the TDAP specifically while pregnant. Not post-partum. Not if you had it after having a child. Just specifically if you will get it during your third tri no matter how long it's been since your last one.

My OB has signs in her office saying they are now required in 3rd tri between 27 and 32w due to the increase in pertusis and protecting the baby.

That's a big fat no for me. I had my last one 2-3 years ago. I get sick every time. I'm not dealing with that when I'm in my third trimester.

I had it PP with DD before being discharged.

I don't remember exactly but I believe the adult booster shot is good for 8-10 years, so most of us STMs will not require another one.

It was offered to me in the hospital before I was discharged and I declined. I'm pretty sure I will get it this time and require DH to get it as well. I will also strongly encourage my parents to get it, but I know I cannot force them to.

When we had our daughter, getting it in third tri was not yet an option. If given the option, I would absolutely get it to be able to confer at least some immunity to the baby for the first critical months before they can get their own vaccine.

I am also slightly curious as to why infants can be exposed to the vaccine in utero but not when they are born? Why is there this two month gap? I'm a little wary too...

I work in a OB/GYN office and a article appeared in the Wall Street journal on January 29 of this year talking about this, one of the doctors posted it in every room. They are recommending every pg women get it.
