Baby Showers

Baby and wedding shower all rolled into one?

So one of DHs friends got engaged to this woman. I like her for the most part, I wouldnt go as far as saying shes a good friend but thats neither here nor there.

We were out with a group of people one night and she asked me when the best time of the month was to get pregnant. I told her with this pregnancy I charted since I was having crazy cycles and that it made me more in tune with my body, etc. I didnt think anything of it at the time and was assuming that she wanted to figure out her body a bit better before the wedding as they wanted to start trying right away after their big day. Well I guess right away meant 6 months before they got married because shes pregnant now.

When I got the mail today I was surprised to find an invite from her to her combo bridal and baby shower. I have never heard of this before and was shocked to see that it was being sent from her and the hostesses listed were her and her sisters.

Anyone ever hear of these before?

  • lol! hilariously tacky. all of it! I'd go just because I was curious. although it's bound to have a stronger theme (baby vs. wedding), just looking for two presents.

  • A girl H went to school with had a klassy wedding. After the wedding, they had a wedding reception, with cake, and a baby shower, also with cake. The whole thing oozed with hillbilly and tacky!
  • Yes, I know someone who did this last year. They threw themselves a combo party to celebrate getting pregnant, buying a house, and getting married (all three events less than a year after she separated from her first husband, but whatever: not my business

When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

  • I actually have been to a baby and bridal shower held at the same time...but for 2 sisters (one having a baby the other one getting married).  They were not hosted by either of them.

This couple...do they currently live together?  If

  • I am not worried about bringing one gift or two, I just wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of it or not. Sometimes things get rolled into one big sh!t show in some areas.

On the invite it says its a "come and go event" and in all honesty

  • I would either find a combo gift that can be used for both a wedding and a baby or skip it. Sounds like a tacky train wreck.

  • I wouldn't go. Or i eiukd go as a bridal attendee and then I'd send a small something after the baby is born.

I also wanted to say that I think her question is beyond weird. How would you know her best time to get ku? Did she think humans op
  • In all honesty, unless it was a close friend/family member, I'd just bring one present and it'd be baby-related.  I know I'm weird, but in my experiences, most adults getting married already have full households of *stuff* and they don't actually nee
