Anyone else stressed because of money (medical bills)

I'm just so stressed out right now--- I just got a bill for myself from last August (2012) for $494 and then another bill that was for $200 from when DS2 was born--- 2 years ago!  Are they kidding?

And that's not counting all of the other bills we have been getting from my husband and myself (both had to have odd procedures done this year that were quite costly)--and then all of the sick visits from DS2 this year.   And now after looking in to insurance, the cost of OT and now possibly PT too is going to be sooooooo high ($100 an hour)---and I can't find places that are closer than about 45 minutes each way.  So just thinking about those charges coming starting June (to get us through the summer at least)..... ugh.

Budgets are so tough at my house because DH is in the trades and we never know when he is working and for how long.  So not only do we have the stress of the timing of it all, but then the wondering when/if money is coming in from him.  I also work outside the home and truly can't take on another job and DH can't/won't.

I swear, it never ends!

  • Hugs! We're in a similar boat.

However, we consider medical debt to be manageable debt. We'll probably be paying the hospital $50 a month until Lauren's 30 <img src="https://community.thebump.com/cs/emoticons/emotion-4.gif" alt="Stick out tongue"

I pay and arm and a leg for insurance for myself and both boys and some sort of sickness insurance from Aflac which gives me up to $200 back/yr on doctor's visit co-pays.  It's still crazy though because Chris is ALWAYS sick - I swe

  • We are swimming in bills over here....like thousands of dollars just in PT bills. We are over income on most funding options but insurance only covers 20 PT visits per year. We blew through those last year and are already out this year as well. It's worth

  • I'm always stressed when I see a medical bill come through,  Just today, I tripped over ds's babygate leading into his room, and hurt my arm.  After spending 3 hours in the ER, I walked out with a prescription for Vicodin and an anti-inflamma

  • I honestly don't know how you American special needs mamas do it. Here in Canada everything is covered. Olivia's preschool, all therapies and all medical bills. Plus we get a disability payment every month and received a lump sum payment when she was d

  • I know this doesn't help too much, but there is a tax deduction for medical payments made out of pocket.  You can claim anything over 10% of your AGI.  This includes doctor visit copays, therapies, medical equipment, dental, vision, mileage to a

  • For the OT and PT I know there are grants out there.  Lots of google and paperwork, but worth it.  We have already hit out max out of pocket this year (not a low number either). OT is not even included in that.   I feel for you.
