When does 1st trimester end and 2nd begin?

I know there are a lot of different ways to calculate, but what did/do you consider the end of the first trimester?

By development, gestation, or conception?

I'm 12 weeks today with an appointment on Tuesday. We don't really know when to announce to friends or extended family. Part of me wants to keep this secret bottled up a bit longer, but it's slowly feeling a little more real.

13 weeks, but I pretty much went by 12. We weren't doing a big announcement or anything, so it didn't really matter to us.

I think the 13+3 is right between the developmental and gestational.

So with that the 2nd would start at 26+6.

I'm inching closer... slowly, but surely.

Same here - 2nd Tri to 3rd Tri is 27 weeks</

I considered 12 to 14 a transition period. When asked what tri I was in during that time... I explianed it depended on who you talked to. I let the cat out at 12 wks though
