Hi everyone, I'm new here but I had a question and The Knot community was very helpful when I got married so I thought this might be a good option as I can't get to my doctor until Monday. This may turn into a small novel, so for that I apologize ![]()
We got married in January of this year and I stopped taking my pills after being on them for almost 14 years (I am now freshly 29). Doctor told us it would probably take us awhile to get the pill out of my system and might take awhile to get pregnant. That was fine, we are in no particular rush.
My period's on the pill have always been extremely light, but stretched out annoyingly over 5 or 6 days. But always fairly dark brown blood, rarely bright red. My first period off the pill was heavier than before and had more bright red blood. I took this as a good sign as I had been a bit worried I wasn't building up a very thick or good uterine lining. I took a pregnancy test that month just because, and it was negative as expected. This month my period showed up a week earlier than normal, but I assumed it wouldn't be regular like on the pill. It was much more similar to a "on the pill" period than the one I had the month.
That ended on Thursday last week, and by Saturday I felt a bit sick to my stomach (which is very uncommon) and I felt bloated and off. I took a digital pregnancy test and it came out positive. I was quite shocked by this as my period had just ended. I went to the store and bought more tests and over the course of Saturday - Monday of this week I took6 tests in total, all Early Response tests, some digital, some with the lines. All were pretty clearly saying positive.
I called the doctor and he can't get me in until next Monday. Last night I went to bed and noticed I was spotting slightly. Woke up this morning (Wednesday) took another pregnancy test and it was definitively negative. I took one Monday night which had said very much positive. All day now I been bleeding a bit heavier (and by bleeding I mean just small amounts of brown blood type discharge) and I'm having some cramping.
From what I've read this sounds like perhaps a chemical pregnancy? I can't imagine a sudden negative test, coupled with cramping and bleeding is a good thing. Or do you think the first 6 tests were messed up somehow by the fact I had just finished my period? Just wondering what's going on exactly! If I really had been pregnant I couldn't imagine I had been more than four or 5 weeks. Thanks for reading the novel and any advice
I'm still going to the doctor's on Monday. But will go into the poor house if I keep OCD peeing on sticks ![]()
P.S. I should also perhaps mention that I am RH negative, and my husband we are fairly certain is positive. I am a B- and his parents tell us he is A+. So not sure if this is any cause for added concern this early in the game. Everything I've read says not until week 20 or 28 but not sure if this is significant in what's occurring.

Re: 6 positive tests, now 1 negative?
I agree that this sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I am very sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone for responding so quickly. I thought that sounded like what was happening but having no experience with TTC I wasn't sure if it was perhaps something else.

Unfortunately, sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I'm sorry.
The Rh factor wouldn't be an issue, especially if you've never been pregnant before (except in highly unusual cases- and those would be later on in pregnancy- you have to be an Rh negati

Really sorry for your loss and having to go through this.
We had a loss last week, and we hadn't told our parents that we were expecting. But we did tell them about the loss because we really wanted them to know and support us, for one, and also so
Sorry you are going through this. Your doctor will hopefully check your hcg levels monday and then on thursday to check for doubling. Even though it maybe a chemical pregnancy, my advice would be your pregnant until your n
