i love the way "s" looks but I had a friend who named her daughter Elisabeth and got so annoyed by the constant misspelling, she legally changed a month later! to Elizabeth!

I think the fact that in the title you spelled it Elizabeth should show you the most common way of spelling it.

I agree that Elisabeth looks softer and sweet... but will be misspelled.

I am with a "z". I have a friend who's middle name is with an "s", we pronounce them differently. I think it depends on the pronounciation that you want.
