Sorry for keeping everyone in suspense, but I'm just now getting around to typing this out. 2u2 is quite exhausting already haha.
As most of you already read, I was went in for my induction on 4/11 and was sent home. I went back in on 4/12 and was nervous that she was going to be born on MIL's birthday lol.
Halle Catherine waited to make her appearance until 4:35pm on Saturday April 13th.
The actual labor/delivery was relatively quick and easy... They started pitocin around 9-930am on Saturday. I wasn't feeling any painful contractions until after my doctor broke my water. I was already at 5-6cm at that point. I got the epidural at 7cm which sucked big balls, but after it started working I was in heaven. I think I got the epidural around 1pm? I can't quite remember. I felt like I needed to push around 420-430, and I literally pushed for 5 minutes and out she came.
She was 7lbs even and 20 1/2 inches long, almost 2 inches longer than L! She didn't have a name until 24 hours after she was born.. I think I'm still getting used to calling her Halle intead of "the baby" lol.
My recovery has been super easy, I didn't tear or anything so I'm not sore at all I am so thankful for that. I guess the most difficult part of my recovery would be trying to deal with L's jealousy towards Halle. When she first met her in the hospital she did great. She was clapping and smiling and saying "baby".. so I guess I was naieve to think that she would continue being happy lol.
Last night was really tough. H was great and did the normal newborn thing.. ate, slept, pooped. L, on the other hand, was trying to climb into our bed before we put her in her crib, she would climb up towards me wanting to be held like a baby.. stuff like that. So I'm hoping her jealousy will subside in the next few weeks.. at least so I can manage her alone with H.
I think one thing that will help get me get through the first few weeks of newborn craziness is just trying to laugh about it and realize that this can't (and wont) last forever. I think when I had L I wasn't able to really enjoy her newborn phase, so I'm hoping that I will be able to enjoy some of that with H. She is just a great baby and I can't imagine not having her here as a part of our family :-)
And now for some pictures. (I haven't taken any pics of my own, so these are from FB from MH and H's Godmother.)
I know you can't see Halle here, but I like it anyway:
MH has more on his computer, I haven't even had a chance to look through them all.. but if I find a few better ones of Halle, I'll be sure to AW them in another post haha
