Wow baby suddenly eating tons!

Ds is 6 weeks old, and for the last few weeks has been eating 4 oz every 3 hours on the dot. In fact since he was 1 week old he has been an every 3 hr eater religiously. The last few days he has been getting hungry earlier. At first I thought it was related to him recently starting to sleep longer stretches yay! and that he was making up for the missed feeding. But last night he didn't miss the one nighttime feeding, and today he has been eating 45 oz every two hours! Is this some crazy growth spurt? Feeding that often is very time consuming, and I'm starting to wonder if I need to be worried something else is going on. He seems fine otherwise. Input? TIA.

Sorry for typos I'm on my mobile.

  • I've heard there's a 6 week growth spurt, so nothing to worry about! And it's not possible to overfeed a newborn, they'll throw up if they eat too much. And it will be projectile vomiting, not just spitting up, trust me lol.

  • Sounds like the 6 week growth spurt. My little girl just finished hers. She nursed nonstop all weekend. It'll pass in a few days. Good luck!
